TPE transit - Visa needed?
Hi everyone
My friend is traveling from India to BKK-TPE-LAX on TG/BR/BR
There is a 4 hr connection at both places, BKK and TPE.
I told him BKK would be fine without Visa, but I am not sure if Taiwan needs a Transit Visa for Indians.
Anyone here know the answer to his question?
If not, is there any other resource for the info?

Thank you. I googled this info and got the same links
What I do not know is if a pax in transit needs a visa and all those pages do not tell me anything.
India has NO transit visas and makes anyone going through an airport get a visa (much like the US does).
I do not know if Taiwan retaliates in a similar manner
I know BKK does not care and allows free transit upto 24 hrs (especially with not leaving the airport).

There's no such thing as transit visa in Taiwan...
I just called BOCA (886-2-2343-2888) & the airport 24-hour hotline (886-3-3982144) on your behalf to confirm that as well. As long as a passenger is in transit and remains in the transit area, no visa is needed. If your friend likes, s/he may also call our National Immigration Agency at TPE (886-3-398-5010 ext 1311) to re-verify.

No visa needed for Indian (or any) nationals while transiting at TPE. You only need a visa if you are entering Taiwan. Your friend will stay in the sterile area during transit and can enjoy 4 hours of looking at duty free stores...
BR will make sure your friend is directed to the transit area and not get in line at immigration. CI and BR's long haul operations depend on transit traffic from Southeast Asia so they are very familiar with the procedures and your friend will be ok.

Like I said, Taiwan doesn't issue transit visa. Period. That's why you don't see anything about transit visa on the official site.
I just called BOCA (886-2-2343-2888) & the airport 24-hour hotline (886-3-3982144) on your behalf to confirm that as well. As long as a passenger is in transit and remains in the transit area, no visa is needed. If your friend likes, s/he may also call our National Immigration Agency at TPE (886-3-398-5010 ext 1311) to re-verify.
Unlike other countries, here in Taiwan we don't retaliate in such manner. Otherwise, you wouldn't find that many nationals can enjoy visa-exempt entry to Taiwan.
