Philippines Arrival Procedure

I am a Canadian planning to fly into Manilla. I understand you need to show immigration proof of onward travel. Is a eticket/receipt on my computer sufficient, or do I need to have an actual printout?

My plan is to fly to Singapore afterwards, but I have not yet booked this leg. I do, however, have a ticket back to Canada from Shanghai in January. As an alternative, will showing this ticket to Philippines immigration be sufficient for their purposes? TIA

I have always been advised to have a print out of the eticket.

So far it has always been at checkin for the flight that they have asked to see the proof of my return ticket not at the Philippines immigration (but I have always had to show the proof before i could check in for the flight so they are strict).

At check-in, if it is a one-way ticket, they will want to see proof of onward travel as they are under the duty to ensure that passengers have the correct documents. I assume you will only be getting a 21 day visitor visa, so you really should have your onward travel sorted out. I would book an onward ticket now, there are plenty of cheap flights available if you book early enough.

FYI, I was only asked to see an onward ticket at check in (and not at immigration). Showing an eticket was sufficient (I didn't need a printout).

Just came back two weeks ago, my third trip, but first in about 7 years.

Never been asked to show an onward ticket either at checkin or at immigration, and that includes my first trip from BKK on Philippine Air (others were CO from Houston and UA from Dallas).

And yes, while my profile has me in TX, on a CDN passport.

One way or return tickets? That is what has made the difference for me in the past.

First trip was o/w, next two r/t, but I was NEVER asked to show itin or onward ticket.

Now that I think about it they gave me a bit of a hard time about the hotel where I was staying - luckily I had that printed out.

My wife is traveling to the Philippines next week with my 21 month old son. My wife is a citizen of the Philippines traveling on a Philippines passport. My son is traveling on a US passport. My understanding is that my son is at least eligible for a 1-year visa (if not visa exempt). Will he need to present an onward ticket? They are planning to return on award tickets, but availability on CX generally shows up six days in advance of the flight, which will be after they arrive in the PI.

He shouldn't need a return ticket. as he's eligible for the 1 year max stay (balikbayan). Just to be on the safe side, bring a copy of some proof of mother-son relationship (e.g. birth certificate) as the immigration officer might ask for it for arrival and/or departure. HTH

No need for a return or onward ticket but to get the balikbayan visa you will need to present the birth certificate of your son, it is mandatory so definitely bring it.

Just make sure you're up to speed on some quirks with booking awards originating from the Philippines. I read (but haven't tried) that you have to go to a ticketing office for them to physically issue a ticket...???
