Do I need a Visa?

Hi,
I am looking to go to EZE at the end of the summer for some R&R. I am a US citizen. Do i need a Visa for a weekend stay? I could not understand the information on the embassy website.
I will be staying in the EZE area.

Thanks
Ben

I believe a US citizen can visit Argentina a lot longer than a weekend without a visa. Offhand, I think it was 6 months. You'll be given a form upon entry. You fill it out, they take half, you pay US$18 and turn the other half in when you leave. No visa, but bring your passport.

onward ticket and show that you have the funds.

For tourist purposes, US citizens do not ordinarily need to apply for a visa in advance of arriving in EZE.

Have valid US passport and return ticket for a weekend stay, enjoy your trip to EZE.

As a US citizen you don't need a visa for tourist purposes.
Like GUWonder said, just valid passport and return ticket.

If you overstay, it is a 60 ARS fine payable at a convenient booth at EZE.

My son's passport will expire in less than 6 months. Some countries required the passport to be valid for 6 or months. Does Argentina have this requirement?

No it does not. I did it recently with 4 months validity.

Just to clarify, you don't pay anything to enter the country. The US$18 fee is a departure tax that every passenger must pay at the airport when leaving.

you should also have said that it is 90 days not 6mos.

However for all the above this only applies to a tourist... 90 days ,, working, students, temporary residents etc need a visa.

Mea culpa. I should have looked it up. Of course with one extension, it becomes 6 months.
