Do I need a Visa?
Hi,
I am looking to go to EZE at the end of the summer for some R&R. I am a US citizen. Do i need a Visa for a weekend stay? I could not understand the information on the embassy website. I will be staying in the EZE area. Thanks Ben |
I believe a US citizen can visit Argentina a lot longer than a weekend without a visa. Offhand, I think it was 6 months. You'll be given a form upon entry. You fill it out, they take half, you pay US$18 and turn the other half in when you leave. No visa, but bring your passport.

this comes from the Continental website.
No visa for 3 months. onward ticket and show that you have the funds. I have been there several times, nobody ever asked for a copy of my e-ticket or how much money I have. National U.S.A. (US) /Embarkation U.S.A. (US) Destination ARGENTINA (AR) ARGENTINA (AR) Passport required. Visa not required for max. stay of 3 months. Extension for another period of max. 3 months is possible. Minors: for specific information see: For details, click here and if born outside Argentina but of Argentine parents see: For details, click here . All visitors are strongly recommended to hold: - return/onward ticket; - sufficient funds; and - all documents required for next destination. Non-compliance with entry requirements will result in fines up to 3 times published fare between origin and destination, but will never be less than USD 1,000.-. ARGENTINA (AR) Vaccinations not required. Malaria prophylaxis recommended. For details, run transaction: For details, click here . |

As a US citizen you don't need a visa for tourist purposes.
Like GUWonder said, just valid passport and return ticket. |
90 day stay... no Visa with US Passport.
|
If you overstay, it is a 60 ARS fine payable at a convenient booth at EZE.

My son's passport will expire in less than 6 months. Some countries required the passport to be valid for 6 or months. Does Argentina have this requirement?

Just to clarify, you don't pay anything to enter the country. The US$18 fee is a departure tax that every passenger must pay at the airport when leaving.

However for all the above this only applies to a tourist... 90 days ,, working, students, temporary residents etc need a visa. |
