Missed your question about Iguazu, Mendoza, Buenos Aires being too much for two weeks. I think that is very doable with the right planning. And if you can get the One World Visit South America Pass each flight AEP-IGR, IGR-AEP and AEP-MDZ, MDZ-AEP would be U$S125 each way plus taxes etc. If not here is the link for the Aerolineas pass

Iguazu Falls for two nights with a day sandwiched between two half days was ideal for me. Because of a ridiculously cheap airfare several years ago, I flew on United Airlines round-trip between Buenos Aires and Montevideo. The same trip could have been done on American Airlines. I do not know about today, however. |

does anyone know how much they enforce the 5kg (11lb) weight limit on carry-on bags for domestic flights?
i also read they dont allow liquids like in the US (small bottles in a ziploc bag) on carry-ons. again, is this true and is it enforced? many thanks, b |

Enforcement of these rules on domestic flights is spotty.... I think chances of you having issues with these things is less than 5%. I would not worry about it, just use common sense and you will be ok.

A question for those of you who travel out of EZE often:
What's with the wrapping of luggage with plastic wrap when leaving the country? Is this to prevent theft from inside the luggage while it is being screened and loaded on the plane? Do you have it done to your luggage? Do you recommend doing it? What does it cost? |
The plastic wrap thing is supposed to help you bags not get scratched... but they also market it as a theft deterrent, etc. I dont know what it costs but I remember its not cheap.

I did this the last time I was there on two bags. One, was coming apart so this made it much more structurally secure, and two, it deters theft. It was 16$, and that included an insurance if there was theft or damage. The company that did it was very reputable, I saw the same company name, brand, forms, machines, outfits at multiple airports.

Please note that to get proper insurance coverge, you may need to itemize what you have in your bags... else your compensation may be subject to a lump sum clause and you may end up being under-paid for your losses...
