Smile Fare Specials

One more question, I'm fluent in Spanish as I'm was raised in Mexico City, would it better to bring a native Argentine friend when signing the offer just in case? An extra ear/hand could always be helpful I'm thinking.

If anybody hears of any good fares from the US do post them. I'm pulling up around $667 from Miami and I would still have to add the YYZ-MIA segment.

Thanks again.
Lan Airlines lan.com Are running specials to Ba As from Miami for $399.00 a person during Sept til Dec 12. My husband and I are leaving tomorrow for EZE airport. With my frequent flyers the fare was only $299.00 GO ARGENTINA!!

You may see a few FTers on your way...there are several of us heading to EZE tomorrow/Friday. I think most are going thru MIA, some thru DFW.

Check the "Cow Do" thread in the Community Forum.

If you cant snatch those super low fares, it seems that more seats are available for US$499, which is still very good for EZE-MIA return.

One detail to check out is whether these fares are valid for 100% mileage accrual, I dont know the details here, especially for folks that want to put these miles into a non LAN Chile FF account.

Chinatown

I read that BA has a Chinatown and I was thinking of heading there for lunch this week. Has anyone been there and if so, is there anything worthwhile?

Thanks!

It's pretty small - only a few blocks. It's great for buying fresh vegetables and some imported asian products that are not available elsewhere in BsAs. It's the only place I've found to buy a rice cooker for example.

But otherwise not very interesting, and I wouldn't consider dining there considering the other options in the city.

I agree with John about Chinatown's dining.... its very hard to find good Chinese food in Buenos Aires. You can eat for very little money, yes, but the stuff you are served is far from authentic (no matter what the decor looks like).

Polo question

Is there any online resource regarding polo matches in BA? I'm planning to be there late Nov/early Dec and would like to take in a match. Any site showing dates of matches, ticketing info, etc? Thanks.

Just an FYI: I've not yet had any problem getting tickets upon arrival there.

Hotels near EZE

I tried doing a search but it didn't seem to work for me. Just wanted to know if there are any hotels near EZE? Would be staying one night tops. Free airport transfers would be nice. Thanks for your suggestions.

Its more a family style lodge than a hotel, but this does appear to offer free transfers to the Airport. Posada de las Aguilas.

As a follow up to the above... is there any special reason why you seem to not be considering staying in town?

Thanks. We will be staying in downtown at the Intercontinental for a week. Since I will be travelling with an airline employee, there is always the chance we might not get on since we are going non-rev so I always plan for a back up just in case. From what I can tell, I don't think we should have a problem since we are going in late October.

Hi Gaucho 100K
Going to stay a week in BA 10 days from now.
Please advise me where to stay,Palermo, downtown or Recoleta
I like food and wine very much and I dont mind about shopping.
I usually stay in 4-5* hotels.
Do you know Soho all suite hotel in Palermo Soho? I checked on line, it seems nice...
Do you know any nice upscale hotel in Palermo?
Thank you in advance

The best luxury hotels in Buenos Aires are:

- Alvear Palace Hotel
- Park Hyatt Palacio Duhau
- Sofitel Arroyo

The all suites in Soho is nice... although its not a super full service establishment, so you may miss this if you are used to a large full service luxury hotel.

I would suggest you stick to Recoleta. Palermo does have nice accomodations, but they are not "traditional" if thats what you are looking for.
