If you use OFF of any repellent with higher DEET, you should be fine.
I will suggest to spend some extra days in Bariloche, just the basic stuff will take you 5 full days, in Calafate you need full day cruise (Marpatag), half day for the Glaciers (or full day for minitrekking), another full day for a day trip to Fitz Roy.

Well, I saw the videos of the swarm of mosquitos in Buenos Aries. Any source in girecasts of whether it’s supposed to be that bad this year (last week in December).
sed like they were so thick they got indoors. Swarms of truly biblical proportions.

Hey! I recently visited Argentina and did a personalized tour with https://gowithguide.com/argentina which was great! For a substitute to Iguazu, I’d suggest visiting the beautiful Mendoza region it’s easy to reach from BA, offers stunning vineyards, and you can explore the city at a relaxed pace. You can also check out the nearby Andes for some lighter walking options. If you're looking for something a bit cooler, try visiting the Lake District in Patagonia it’s gorgeous and offers scenic walks without the intense heat of Salta. It pairs nicely with El Calafate too!
