Question Accommodation in Northwest Argentina

We will be travelling around Cordoba, Salta and Jujuy in the first half of January.

Do we need to book accommodation in advance? Or can we always find something on the spot when we arrive?

Is booking.com the best website to find accommodation in Northwest Argentina? In some places there are very few hotels on booking.com while on the Google map we can see many hospedajes/hotels existing. Is there perhaps a better equivalent of booking for Argentina?

Many places don't maintain websites. You'll find smaller places especially are much more responsive to WhatsApp messages than emails. I have nowhere near a comprehensive understanding of the properties throughout this region, but if there's someplace you particularly like, my advice would be to always book in advance.

Jujuy/Salta

We spent a week in the Salta/Jujuy area June of this year. In total we were in Argentina from Feb-July. We are now back in Buenos Aires. We flew into Salta, rented a car for the week. We stayed in Tilcara @ Castilicara Cabanas. It was great.
We loved that trip! We found our accommodations on Booking. As full-time nomads, we use AirBnb and Booking depending on what kind of accommodations we need.

Ask questions if you have any..

January is high season in Argentina, so be careful that you have accommodation booked up in places that tend to be busy.
