Well, I hope you are correct, but have to say, if I had a dollar for every time a country somewhere in the world announced they would be reopening in ~1.5 months, well... I guess I wouldn't be rich, but you get the picture.

The last year and a half have definitely taught us that an awful lot can change/go wrong in a mere 1.5 months, but hey, here is hopin!

Regards

Article mentions more specifics, Like testing before or on arrival in addition 5 to 7 days once in the country. Various areas will have quotas of entry. So its not a complete open the borders there are specific requirements. Once the Argentine Nationals have been vaccinated at 50% with both doses, Testing will no longer be required.

This is a developing story..... the first "news" was indeed an opening date of November 1st, but, the lastest reports issued today (9/21) are saying that the Government plans to implement an accelerated re-opening with the first batch of tourists from "select countries" being allowed to enter the Country starting OCTOBER 1st.

No details out yet, but I will come back to report more as soon as I can confirm additional "fine print". Something would need to be published in the Official Gazette to be 100% formalized... this should happen in the next couple of days - if this is going to be implemented as has been leaked to the press. Needless to say, this is only the first step and the next would be for the ANAC (the Argentine FAA) to stop messing around with the Foreign Airlines and finally allow them to return back to normal operational schedules. American wants to bring back 4 of its 5 pre-existing flights (LAX will not be coming back anytime soon), but they are desperate to get back their 2nd daily MIA frequency and also get daily rights to operate DFW and JFK.

Not sure what DL and UA are up to - but I would assume that they would al least want to get back their daily (ATL & IAH) flights sometime in the near future....

Stay Tuned.......

So how will it go for the 128th HSBC Argentine Polo Open Finals on December 11th?

UA seems more than content with having shifted the focus of a bunch of its big planes away from passenger service and into air cargo, so not sure how that will play into UA’s EZE service resumption plans.

Lots of rumours and unconfirmed reports... but still nothing tangible - other than flight loads of what has been approved by the ANAC are at all time record highs. Average Economy fares (for departures in October) for a EZE to US & return ticket are north of $3500. Average Business fares are more than $6000.

To put this in perspective, under "normal" operations it is possible to get discounted Business class fares I (India) for between $2200-2300

As is to be expected, prices plummet starting November 1st. Lots of people are desperate to get vaccinated before the new US entry requirements go into effect.

Still, no flights approved for October...

But they are meeting today. So expect announcements a little later

New rules published in today's Official Gazette, effective immediately, for Argentine citizens and residents. No quarantine/isolation required for fully vaccinated. They still require a PCR before flight, a rapid test upon landing and another PCR between days 5-7 after arrival. People are prohibited from using public transport and attending large events during their first week in the country (wonder how they plan to enforce that).

Still nothing for foreigners, though.

Government-driven scarcity hasn't hit the economy class award space availability/pricing as badly as the regular paid economy class fares for travel tonight and back middle or end of next week. Rather than paying regular paid fares in economy class, it could well be a lot cheaper to even buy the miles and fly on an award ticket; and it is right now for EZE-JFK-EZE.

At least award space in economy in November for EZE-JFK-EZE and JFK-EZE-JFK is looking pretty good.

Nice fare from BOS on AA. UA has some nice P fares from LAX in the $2100 range , just need to find the dates they are available

Argentina taking the top over Chile ?

Looks good https://en.mercopress.com/2021/10/01...-of-next-month and this source is quite reliable for South America.

Will Argentina now have a tourist boom and Chile loose out completely ? Antarctic tourism season coming...... For Chile since yesterday you can enter, but with 5 days quarantine (which is absolute nonsense for double vaccinated people) and no real tourist will bear that. (I canceled my trip for November and it was a high added value one)

In your case why dont you ex USA? You can do a mileage positioning flight or revenue OW, to get to the states and then purchase RTs originating in USA. If you travel often enough it may make sense
