General strike today

I see that Aerolineas Argentinas and Latam are cancelling all flights today. Does the strike also affect general airport workers, and will it then force other airlines to cancel as well? Any idea how long it'll last?

Only Aerolineas Argentinas, NOT Latam. One-day strike against the change in labour laws.

It's not only Aerolineas since it's a general strike including the airport workers. Gol for instance has cancelled all of their flights today, even the ones before noon (
), Latam cancelled a majority of their flights and some foreign carriers (e.g. KLM, Air France) have also cancelled their flights tonight.

Indeed, cancellations are affecting all long hauls....BA AF AA the list goes on.

All caused by the usual suspects who always want something for nothing.

Well that's interesting: Delta, United, BA, Air France all cancelled long hauls out, and yet AA900 took off 30 minutes ago on time.

Got to look on the bright side. We took the Four and a half hour drive from the Capital down to Carilo for our annual pre Xmas break . All toll booth workers were in strike , so we didnt have to pay one toll !

In the case of airports, the strike was called by Intercargo staff, which does most of the aircraft handling in Argentina. The only two airlines at EZE that do not use Intercargo are Aerolneas/Austral (but their pilots union went on strike as well) and American Airlines, hence AA flights were the only ones operating.
