Thanks, Chezzy & welcome to Flyertalk! The V822 code has already been posted, but it's the thought that counts! Thanks again!

V822 is a 20% off promotional code associated with the Peabody Essex Museum in Boston. It is valid on unreserved trains only. Reserved Regional, Metroliner, and Acela services are excluded. You can book coach or reserve a business class seat on an unreserved train and use V822. But you cannot use V822 on a reserved train and book either coach or business class.

Even though the discount is related to a Boston attraction, the code will work for any NEC city pair BOS to WAS. The last day for travel on V822 is 12/16/04.

V148 is Working On Line Now

The V148 discount (20% off regular fares outside NEC and various other routes like BON-POR) is now working at Amtrak.com (it wasn't earlier in the month).

Like previous discounts, this one may be "stacked" with the regular senior discount of 15%, providing what is in effect a 32% discount for seniors.

I have just tried this for ALB-MTR and OKJ-SAC for October travel dates.

See earlier posts for details.

I just used H426 on an unreserved train from New York to Balitmore. H422 would not work however. I thought those codes were done but i guess that was because last weekend was labour day weekend. Glad to see that one still works.

For those of you who rely on the Student Advantage Discounts, check out my comments on post #3 of the MR Tools Thread (stickied at the top of the MR forum) regarding renewals & 2-for-1 memberships - save a little cash, while saving a little cash...

I always test sell all the codes I can recall, even if it's an old code b/c sometimes they seem to recycle the code numbers & sometimes codes are valid on a route that we don't think they are valid on, so it doesn't hurt to try. It usually only takes about an extra 10 minutes.

When doing test sells, I recommend trying to do it off of the AAA rate first - if that doesn't work, try doing it off the regular rate. Codes, like the current V707 dropped an unreserved WAS-NYP ticket from 72 down to about 57 last week, when the AAA rate was 64 - but it was only doable off the regular rate, whereas the V529 code will work off the AAA rate & the regular rate, witht the AAA rate pricing out better.

The most recent code posted is:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum...ML/000160.html

Student did a great job describing the codes, and I'll admit that I'm lazier than that, so I'll start with these:

V707 - at least 20% off - should be valid til 9/17, possibly later
V529 - at least 20% off - Su-Th - no Fri/Sat trains from 11A-11P
V709 - at least 20% off - Fri/Sat - should be valid til 11/9
V805 - at least 20% off of some trains - most likely PA trains, but it doesn't hurt to try.
H317
H315
H234
H235
H215 - 10% off on regular trains through 12/31 - can be used with AAA rate

(edited to add that the above codes have all worked at one time or another on the East Coast WAS-NYP route - weekdays/weekends - haven't tried v805 or v709 yet, but I am adding those based off of Student's post)

The codes on the first page are pretty old - I will update that & suggest that people read further into the post for current codes - check the most recent pages & you may be able to find something that works.

Some codes won't work on Acela trains.

Please post code number in the title - thanks!

Hi All,

We've all been doing a great job keeping others informed about discounts by posting codes. As the most recent codes are generally in the title, please post the code number & possibly the validity dates in your title - I'll try to do the same.

I can also try to keep the first post updated with current codes if you all would like. I subscribe to this thread, so anytime it's updated, I get an e-mail, so it wouldn't be too difficult to keep it updated - unless someone else would like that task - in which case we could start a new thread & have that stickied to the top. I don't mind updating it as I've been updating the MR Tools thread & the DC Happy Hour threads - but if someone else would like to do it, it's fine by me.

I can't really do it today as I've got a ton of work to do, but I may have some time this weekend - if anyone else wants to do it, please post here & feel free to start a new thread.

H431 On-Line Booking Discount

In conjunction with the launch of the revamped Amtrak.com website. Note that this discount is "stackable" with certain other discounts, providing a total effective savings of 19% on AAA/NARP. This is not quite as good as the 20% available with V148, but the new discount may be used for travel into early 2005, while V148 expires in mid-November.

**********

This offer valid for ten (10) percent off the best available regular (full) adult, senior, disabled adult, Student and Veterans Advantage, AAA and NARP members discounted adult rail fare. Reservations must be made through the Amtrak web site at www.amtrak.com to qualify for this discount except for disabled passengers who must call 1-800-USA-RAIL (1-800-872-7245) to make reservations using this special offer and to receive the Amtrak discount for disabled passengers. Reservations must be made at least three (3) days prior to departure and are non-refundable once purchased. Offer valid for reservations: September 12, 2004 - December 15, 2004 and for travel September 15, 2004 - February 28, 2005. Blackouts apply for the following dates: November 23-30, 2004, December 17, 2004 - January 2, 2005, February 18-21, 2005. Up to 2 children ages 2-15 may accompany each paid adult at 1/2 of the discounted adult rail fare. Not valid on the Cascades, Acela Express, Metroliner, Canadian portions of joint Amtrak/VIA Rail service to Ontario, 7000-8999 Thruways or for local travel on Northeast Corridor trains (Boston, MA/Albany, NY - Washington, DC) departing during peak travel periods (Friday and Sunday between 9:00 am-6:59 pm). Fares, routes and schedules subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply. Please refer to Promotion Code H431.
