This thread looks as good as any for my questions. 
We'll be passing through WAS on the Cardinal. Scheduled stop = 50 min. Will we be allowed to get off the train? If so, is there a ... process ... for getting back on, or will we simply have to join the general boarding scrummage described in a number of threads? Also, is the lounge any better now than the way it was portrayed in comments from a year or two ago? TIA.

I dont recall anything particular about re-boarding as a sleeping car passenger; I believe its just along with the general mob but you can get back on at any time.
