VS allows One Ways for half round trip mileage. They even used to give a 500-1000 mile online booking discount depending on the class you booked. Not sure if they still do that (online discount) but my only trip in UC was MIA-LHR had for 39K MR points. 40K-1K online discount at the time. Still not a bad value at 50K OW from FL and 45K OW from most NE gateways.

Gone. No incentive to book online, but it doesn't matter. I dislike telephone calls

British Airways also offers one-way awards for half mileage. This allows you to build a transatlantic trip mixing cities, carriers or classes or service without any assistance. If Flying Blue also does this there will be even more flexibility.

Well Asia Miles -CX- was recently added for Canada.

Does that mean USA members will have that option.

" (logisticly easy to extend" does not translate to " (consistent with business model and current contractual obligations.

For instance the Starwood point program ( SPG not AMEX) allows USA based SPG members to transfer to AEROPLAN. However Canadian based SPG members
can't.

I supect this is due to the AEROPLAN / AMEX heavy tie in in Canada.

? the reason oneworld isnt an option must be due to their current contracts with other partners in the US.

One way awards using af miles can be done when flying nw,af,kenya and klm only. Good to hear about vs miles having one way award option.

Singapore Airlines has, finally, appeared as a Membership Rewards (USA) transfer partner...

Excellent news. Main reason:

SQ does not allow their new seats for mileage redemption with any of their partners. Having Krisflyer miles allows you to redeem on SQ ultra premium seats without having to compete with all the worldwide partners having access to their inventory.

Thumbs up

I might actually start accruing miles with KrisFlyer even with the higher redemption rates and recent changes to PPS qual. The problem I have always had with programs where the mileage expires outright after X years was the fear that I would be left with orphan miles or having to redeem a sub-optimal reward. Now I can top up the account with MR points.
