The Centurion® Lounge
Platinum and Business Platinum Card Members
U.S. Basic Platinum Card Members and Additional Platinum Card Members on the account and U.S. Basic Business Platinum Card Members and Additional Platinum Card Members on the account may bring up to two (2) guests per visit into locations of The Centurion Lounge in the U.S., at Hong Kong International Airport and at London Heathrow Airport for no per-visit guest fee (“Complimentary Guest Access”) through January 31, 2023. Effective February 1, 2023, Platinum Card Members, Business Platinum Card Members and Additional Platinum Card Members on the account will be charged a $50 fee for each guest (or $30 for children aged 2 through 17, with proof of age). To receive Complimentary Guest Access at these locations after January 31, 2023, the total eligible purchases on the Platinum Account must equal or exceed $75,000 between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 and in each calendar year thereafter. Guest access policies may vary internationally by location and are subject to change.
Beginning February 1, 2023, eligibility for Complimentary Guest Access will be processed within a week of the Platinum Account’s meeting the purchase requirement in most cases, but may take up to 12 weeks to become effective. Complimentary Guest Access status will be reflected in the Benefits tab of your online account and in the American Express App. Once effective, Complimentary Guest Access will be available for the remainder of the calendar year in which it became effective, the following calendar year, and until January 31 of the next calendar year (for example, if Complimentary Guest Access becomes effective on May 1, 2023, it will remain effective through January 31, 2025). Eligible purchases made by any Additional Card Members on the Platinum Account will contribute to the purchase requirement. Eligible purchases to meet the purchase requirement are for goods and services minus returns and other credits. The Platinum Card Member must present his or her valid American Express Card, government-issued I.D., and same-day corresponding airline ticket to club ambassador. Additional Gold Cards and Additional Green Cards on your Platinum account are not eligible for complimentary access. Access to Delta Sky Club partner lounges is not permitted. Individuals must be at least 18 years of age to access Delta Sky Club, and 21 years of age to access locations with a self-service bar, unless accompanied by a responsible, supervising adult who has access to the lounge. Priority Pass Select
These Terms and Conditions govern Platinum Card Members' participation in and use of the Priority Pass™ Select program. Priority Pass is an independent airport lounge access program. At any visit to a Priority Pass Select lounge that admits guests, you may bring in two guests for no charge. After two guests, you will be automatically charged the guest visit fee equal to the guest visit fee of the Priority Pass Standard program for each additional guest. Some lounges do not admit guests. By enrolling in Priority Pass Select, you agree that you will be responsible for any additional accompanying guest visits and that your Card will be automatically charged after you have signed for the additional guest visit and it has been reported to Priority Pass by the participating lounge. Additionally, you acknowledge and agree that American Express will verify your Card account number and provide updated Card account information to Priority Pass. Priority Pass will use this information to fulfill on the Priority Pass Select program and may use this information for marketing related to the program. Priority Pass Select
These Terms and Conditions govern Platinum Card Members' participation in and use of the Priority Pass™ Select program. Priority Pass is an independent airport lounge access program. At any visit to a Priority Pass Select lounge that admits guests, you may bring in two guests for no charge. After two guests, you will be automatically charged the guest visit fee equal to the guest visit fee of the Priority Pass Standard program for each additional guest. Some lounges do not admit guests. By enrolling in Priority Pass Select, you agree that you will be responsible for any additional accompanying guest visits and that your Card will be automatically charged after you have signed for the additional guest visit and it has been reported to Priority Pass by the participating lounge. Additionally, you acknowledge and agree that American Express will verify your Card account number and provide updated Card account information to Priority Pass. Count me in the camp of the loud-mouth,...business travelers to be the absolute most annoying in any lounge, Amex or otherwise. Far more annoying than the occasional child I see in the lounge.

I believe during this pandemic, AmEx has made the Platinum card more attractive by offering higher new card bonus, Paypal credit, possible $200 travel credit and even generous retention bonus. All these make Platinum card base grow larger even most folks do not travel. The larger cardholder base will make the limited lounge space even more crowded, now or later when travel picks up.
AmEx will always makes more money from the Platinum cards. The $50 "guest" fee makes it even better even I do not see a lot people pay it for various reasons.

Make it $75 instead of $50, and make it free lounge entry for card holders only, all other companions should pay or have their own card(adults), children should also pay to play, perhaps children can get a discount (just like many public places). It will be a fair game.

Personally I have no issues with kids being in the lounge but I'm also ok respecting someone's "kids are pesky" point of view as long as that statement applies regardless of the race, religion, gender or ethnicity of the said kids.

For me there are two camps, there’s the younger sales crowd who think they’re big time because they’re flying and have a platinum card, then there’s also the older business traveler crowd who is treated well at work because of their title and don’t realize outside of work no one cares who they are. Both camps need a dose of being told that they aren’t special.

I have a Canadian Plat w/an AU, and exceed $75k/year so i wouldn't be affected either way...we travel with our children majority of our trips
I also have a USA Plat, but only have this for the Amex Offers/Travel partners with limited spending (typically make my Annual Fee up in offers)

I expect that Platinum cards issued in other countries make up a relatively small fraction of Centurion lounge visits, but American Express has the data. I also think that $75,000/year is unrealistic in many countries, and they would have to publish different spending targets for various markets.

When I chatted and got a retention offer on the Plat last week, the agent said something I thought odd, but I didn't give it much thought. They said something about the amount of spend I put on my account and that because of this spend they could make a retention offer. However, I have put very little spend on my Platinum this year, but a moderate amount on my Delta and Everyday Preferred. Does anyone else think Amex might be considering all spend across all cards for this 75K threshold?
I'm probably overthinking this, and a little wishful thinking. If I get a chance this week I may call and ask them.

Agreed...for us we usually need a stopover for a flight and plan them around Centurion Airports so the kids can run around in the family rooms...the primary lounge I see Canadians in is Las Vegas, but again it's a small number from my experiences.

In addition to what mia thinks, I'll add that many of the foreign Plat cards are already more expensive than the US counterpart. The Centurion lounge product is also mostly US centric. So I presume that the vast majority of Centurion lounge use is USA issued cards and that creating a dustup with clients, and also creating the IT infrastructure, to apply this to all other countries isn't worth the hassle for likely little benefit.
