I did mine on the SWA iPhone app. No issues. Also did it on SWA website using Explorer. No issues.

Waiting for credits to actually post. Which I'm assuming will be the next business day.. Was able to use the remaining credits for 2019 and will get a new set of credits for 2020...

So when did you cancel the ticket? Is it within the 24 h period, after 24 h or once the credit posted?

Any DPs of this not working for flights <$100? Looks like a few folks are still waiting, but I haven't seen any DPs of someone not getting reimbursed at all?

I'm planning to purchase a few <$100 SW flights now for my 2020 credit.

We would not know until 4+ weeks after the transaction, because that's the amount of time stipulated in the benefit terms.

on the contrary, some ppl reported that cr was posted within few days after charges posted before or by 12/31 for 2019; for 2020, still too new, charges r still pending

unless you have immediate need for WN TF and fly often, i dont understand the people rushing to buy <$100 fares in the new year. amex may close the loophole soon and thats a valid concern, but that also means your WN TF will expire at the end of 2020. and judging from all these last minute posters, there are plenty here who already have TF from only a few days/weeks ago which would also expire at the end of 2020. so now you have double the amount to spend with PAX restrictions. im gonna take my chances and wait. i hate expiring credits.

Some of us will have zero problem using the credit before expiration. I hear what you're saying, but it's only a concern if you don't fly SW very often.

You can cancel 1 second after booking the flight. Just make sure to select "hold for future use" for the reimbursement method.

Not sure if this will be useful for anyone but if you have multiple travel funds under $100, you can actually then use them to purchase a more expensive fare and that way you will only have to keep track one of confirmation number rather than multiple ones.

Example:
Travel Funds #1 : $99
Travel Funds #2 : $99
Travel Funds #3 : $99

Purchase a $297 ticket and use the above funds to do it. It won't have any impact on your expiration date but might be a little easier to keep track of for some.

I had read somewhere that by using the funds to purchase a ticket and you cancel again, your new funds will be the date of your latest purchase. I am not sure if I read the post/blog correctly, or maybe that loophole was closed. I heard that SW was allowing you one cancellation to get this informal extension on your credit.

I don't think so. From what I can tell, when you co-mingle travel funds, the funds with the earliest expiration are the ones that stick on the new reservation.

I want to give a friend my flight credit. If the friend buys a <$100 SW ticket with my AMEX card, will I get the credit?

Yes,my wife has our companion pass and I have the AMEX account so I buy the tickets under her name with my AMEX card and they get refunded. Then they are worth double essentially.
