It is the only service offered by a mass market lender. If you want individual service, a lender that will justify its decisions to your personal satisfaction, you need to deal with a different type of bank.

Once Amex reports to the credit bureaus you should start creating US credit and the picture will change

You can call it individual service, but I just think of it as great customer service. Especially to people who are looking to spend sizeable amounts of money and thus generating a lot in fees. You believe that great customer service and mass market lender are mutually exclusive. I do not.

Card issuers use various services to estimate cardholder income and assets. You might deposit a sizeable amount with American Express to see if it shifts the algorithm in the direction of approval.
