Softcard Amex Serve and Monthly Fee

I have an Amex Serve that should now be incurring the $4.95 monthly fee.

I have managed to avoid it the last two months by making 2 random test deposits from two accounts however I really don't have any account I can link to it to make ACH payments. Currently I have Chase bank linked to it but if I add money thru serve does that count as ACH?

Any who, I have read that if I keep my balance at $0 it wont charge the fee?

Any truth to this. I had $.76 and transferred them over to my bank to day so it sits at $0.

I really don't use this card and was thinking of closing it down but hate to do that cuz as soon as I do I will see some reason why I needed it but i also don't want to pay a fee on it.

Any ideas?

I can confirm that it won't have a fee if you have a $0 balance. I have four Softcard Serve accounts.

Alternatively, you could open a Capital One 360 account and use the P2P payment option to make a payment to your Softcard serve account.

Did you have to have it at $0 all month or just at the end of month? Im afraid I had $.76 in there until 2 days ago and now its at $0.

I do but I have other accounts using up my external links that I consider more valuable that amex serve.

I don't want to close it but I might just have to. I really have no need for it but since I have it I hate to let it go.

I will see what happens with the $0 then. Thanks!!

I'm not talking about using one of your three external transfer accounts at capital one 360. I'm talking about adding a P2P payment with your serve account checking and routing numbers as the payee information. There is no limit to the number of P2P payment accounts.
