This thread is a continuation of discussion which began HERE in 2011. It was very active in 2014, read HERE.

Referrals and self-referrals are an important part of churning Canadian-issued American Express cards. It is appropriate to discuss how the referral process works in this thread. However, please do not offer or request referrals here.

Use only this thread, and do read the Wikipost carefully before posting:

Referral Offers (post only in this thread, no referral links, read Wiki post first).

JerryHung: I figure I'll include all CURRENT AMEX Canada offers here (no referral links) for anyone curious about what the bonus and fees are
This is not an all-inclusive list, only the "good" offers, so feel free to add new offers

AMEX Platinum Rewards - $699/year, 60K MR (via referral) after $1000 spending in 3 months vs. 50K non-referral

AMEX Gold Rewards - $150/year, FYF, 25K MR after $500 spending + $50 cashback from GCR
(as of Jan 11, 2016 Gold card will no longer earn referral points.)

AMEX Air Miles Platinum - $65/year, FYF, 2000 Air Miles after $500 spending + $30 GCR cashback

AMEX SPG - $120/year, 20K SPG after $500 spending + $30 GCR cashback

Not so with my Biz about a year and half ago. I had to call and PM several times, after meeting my spend in less than two months. From the time I applied to the time the points posted was 14 weeks...

Amex Business Gold 40k bonus came all at once 6 weeks after meeting minimum spend on May 31. Did not follow up with Amex at all.

Let's hope not

At the moment, Biz versions have much higher minimum spending ($5000 vs. $1000 Plat/$500 Gold) so AMEX may earn more there too

Plus, it's easy to kill it, just take away FYF and we will pass

Has anyone applied for the Aeroplan Reserve card? I can't justify this card for $899.00.
Did you actually see it display 51,000 via referral? Still showing 41,000 for me

Edit: Held shift and clicked refresh and now its shows 51k. 66k for $500 may be doable.

If AMEX Canada follows big brother to the south, then probably not. So far, biz cards in the U.S. still don't have the once-in-a-lifetime restrictions (or at least the ones I looked at).

No. As an ex-pat, I can vouch that it's now once per lifetime south of the 49th. On personal cards, at least. On Biz cards, the churn is on, though! Open a card. Close it after 6 months. After its been closed for 12 months, reapply. Every 18 months, you get a new bonus! But just on the Biz cards.
It's big news down here.

Getting a company registered should be quite straight forward though right?

Datapoint: DH applied to Amex Gold MR on July 1 via my referral link. My 10K referral points posted day after application successful. Minimum spend completed yesterday and 25K posted today! YMMV.

Has he ever had Amex Gold MR card before?

Are referral links still lacking once in a lifetime wording, so OK to churn by referral?

Yes he's had it twice before. Referral wording had not changed at time of app (not sure now).

Have had an AMEX GOLD MR twice before and did a self referral June 28th for a new AMEX GOLD MR. Got the 10K referral bonus right away and when I hit $500 spend today the 25K posted immediately.

Does anyone have info on the AMEX Airmiles Platinum 2K bonus? Do you have to wait until you are actually billed for your bonus points?

Yes, you need to wait until statement to get your Air Miles (welcome or spending)
Same as other AMEX ones like SPG or Aeroplan
