Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.

(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)

Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.
To purchase click here: https://www.southwest.com/gift-card/create-card.html Caution: Do NOT login to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account when making the purchase.

What does appear to work is buying flight tickets less than $100, OR using gift cards to get the charged amount down to less than $100.

Always read the last few pages to get up-to-date DPs.

My Sept. purchase of 1x $100 GC was successful.

Does anyone know how we can find out how much credit we have left for the year?

I was also advised to use the rest of my $200 total credit by Dec. 31st, since it resets to a fresh $200 on January 1st, 2014.

$200 airline fee reimbursement reports: WN/FL only

My annual fee is due in Feb, and I've already used my $200 credit. Could I utilize the $200 credit again in Jan, or will I have to wait until Feb?

It's calendar year, so yes, you can use it again in January.

If you haven't used your $200 credit yet - might be nice to stack with this?

In my case, I only have about $80 left… with a flight next week - $10 for a few drinks… not sure if I'd want to be holding the bag on $200 in gift cards.

An extremely small bonus but nice nonetheless if you're doing it already. Thx.

Placed an Order for 1x $75 GC - will let everyone knows when the credit posts. Will spend the last $10 on a few drinks in flight.

Debating where I will be doing most of my travel in January - with the loss of AAdmirals Lounge access on Plat Amex, I'm not sure if I should put my fee reimbursements into AA or WN. (I have the Citi AA card so get free bags already too). Guess a single $200 GC on WN is as nice as anything.

Does anyone know if you need to order gift cards $100 and under for it to work or will a single card of $200 work?

I just switched my selected airline to SW and plan to buy gift cards next week.

Thanks!

Good question. A couple days ago I bought two $100 gift cards at the same time, which went through as a single $200 transaction (doh)... patiently waiting.

SWA credits

Thought I posted previously, but ordered two $100 SWA Gift cards and within a few days the credits from Amex arrived for each charge. Very quick. Now I just need to decide if I keep my benefit for SWA or change to a different airline. I believe I have to decide by January 14th?
