Reminder: you must enroll and select Southwest as your airline BEFORE making a reimbursable purchase.
Some have suggested the need to wait several hours or even a day before making the purchase, but there are also several DPs that worked without waiting that long.
(BTW, you will often hear people refer to Southwest as WN. WN is the IATA code for Southwest Airlines. SW is the IATA code for Air Namibia.)
Caution: As of late July 2019, reports are that direct gift card purchases are no longer being reimbursed.

I followed all the directions as I do every year with my Gold and Platinum cards. Made sure Southwest Airlines is selected and ordered a $100 Southwest Airlines gift card. The charge cleared on December 29th, and now there's no sign of any statement credits. I don't know what went wrong this time?!

My mom applied for a Gold Card a few days after Christmas, it arrived on December 31, so I helped her double dip on the credit.
Purchased a $100 GC on 12/31, posted on 1/2, credit issued on 1/5.
Purchased a $100 GC on 1/1 (at 1:00 am lol), posted on 1/3, credit issued on 1/6.
I purchased a $100 GC with my Gold on 1/1 (at 1 am also), posted on 1/3, credit issued on 1/7. Also did a $200 GC with my Platinum a few minutes later, posted on 1/2, credit issued 1/7.

1 100$ GC and 66$ flight change fee both on 4th Jan credit posted is exactly the same (Travel - airline) with Hilton Aspire no change in travel credits, yet.

I'm looking to close my Platinum card but was hoping to double dip on the Southwest reimbursements. Purchased 2x$100 Southwest GCs that posted on 1/1 -- no credit yet. My 30-day cancellation period for the annual fee is tomorrow. Any chance the credits would past after account closing? Separately, I wonder how strict Amex is on the 30-day grace period for refunding the annual fee?
