Loyalty Bonus Stack or lost?

Hello,
last year at the 100,000 miles reward I got the 30% loyalty boost that is good till June 2026. I will hit 60,000 miles next week and unlock the 25% boost.

What will happen?
A) Will i stack the 30% and 25% boost
B) Will i keep the 30% till June and the remainder of 6 months (Sep 2026) be 25%?
C) Will my boost be downgraded to 25% till Sep 2026?
D) Will i keep 30% till June and when it expires 25% starts for 6 months?

anything I can do to call and ask not to activate reward yet?

Update. I found the following in the TC and they are contradictory. https://www.aa.com/i18n/aadvantage-p...nt-rewards.jsp

  • If you requalify for a Loyalty Point bonus while you're still receiving the prior years 60,000 or 100,00 Loyalty Point bonus, the new Loyalty Point bonus promotion will not begin until the prior Loyalty Point bonus has ended. Check your AAdvantage account for the date your Loyalty Point bonus promotion will begin.
  • If the prior year's 20% Loyalty Point bonus is triggered retroactively while you're still receiving the current year's 25% Loyalty Point bonus, then the highest bonus will prevail. The 20% Loyalty Point bonus will not be applied.
  • If the prior years 30% Loyalty Point bonus is triggered retroactively during the 185-day period you're receiving the current years 25% Loyalty Point bonus, then your bonus will automatically increase from 25% to 30% on future purchases, and the 185-day period will restart. You will not receive both bonuses at the same time.

I think if you look at the 60k LP loyalty award it specifically says "within 6 months of unlocking and registering this award," So just like SWUs, and the 15k awards, you can wait to select them when you want which should allow you to sit on the award until the 30% bonus has expired.

What's this talk about registering? The 20% or 30% LP boosts with a few partners have always kicked in automatically for me. No registration/selection required. And obviously they do not stack.

In the past the unlocking has been automatic, no registration required.

True, but it changed this year. Other users report that the registration MUST occur within 30 days of qualifying as well, or lose it. You might want to check here and other subsequent posts.

Interesting. I missed that. Wonder why AA has decided to stop handing out Chump Currency like candy

I don't think AA has cleaned up all the T&C's to reflect the changes. I saw it change within an hour a few days ago when another member reported speaking with AA about the wording. I'd suggest calling AA Customer Service, but to be honest I'm not sure you'd get a reliable answer at this point either! Maybe x/twitter where you can keep a copy of their reponse - if they will even address this issue. (They seem to be more reservations then advantage, but worth a shot.) Good luck.

--- Perhaps someone else has more clarification?

EDIT: But reading what you have above, I'd say register within the 30 days and your account will show the new start date, I wouldn't risk not registering within 30 days.

I second the recommendation that you need to register within thirty days. I qualified under last year's program in late February and contacted Customer Service in March and was told I was out of luck, they could not help me as thirty days had passed and I had failed to register. When I pointed out that I was under last years rules they were like, Oh, you're good.

So be sure to register before thirty days runs out. Whether you get 30% or 25% during the overlap I can't help you. Just be sure you get one or the other.

I went on the chat at AA.com and asked them specifically about my situation. They said you will not have a registration deadline and the new 25% will start after your 30% expires. I asked if I can get a copy of chat they said they can't but it's recorded on their side. I copy pasted the transcript.

we should be good!

and I just landed and I'm at 60,334 miles. Fingers crossed lol

You could ask chat the same question 5 times and get 5 different answers.

I still have not received the registration link, it's clear to me from my customer service calls that the people that work in the relevant departments at American Airlines do not understand how this is supposed to work and I think it's going to end up poorly for them.

I came across this thread by chance since my last year 30% seems to be ended last week and my account just reflected 67k loyalty yesterday I didnt not received the link to registered for the bonus however go to AAs app, click on promotion then one can registered for the 25% bonus.

I also found out
  • If the prior year's 20% Loyalty Point bonus is triggered retroactively while you're still receiving the current year's 25% Loyalty Point bonus then the highest bonus will prevail. The 20% Loyalty Point bonus will not be applied.
  • If the prior years 30% Loyalty Point bonus is triggered retroactively during the 185-day period that you're receiving the current years 25% Loyalty Point bonus:
    • Your bonus will automatically increase from 25% to 30% on future purchases
    • The 185-day period will restart. You will not receive both bonuses at the same time.
Hopefully that will help someone.
