I have a similar question- does One world Ruby get you any free checked bags? Especially interested in Caribbean flights as my AA CC doesn't give me a free checked bag there and not sure if I will renew it if ruby gets me free domestic bags.

OWR gets you one free checked bag on any AA flight. OWR from some oneworld FFPs also gets free MCE seats -- if available -- starting at 24 hours before scheduled departure time.

Yes, ruby gets you one free checked bag. This is all laid out on the baggage page at aa.com.

Right. So I should have titled this thread - Atmos Silver upgrade possibilities on AA !!

What a delight AA is! Booked domestic flight in Basic as OWR. Free seat selection for myself and travel partner immediately and booking confirmation included info on free bag for both of us. No need to guess 👍🏻

Flew United Basic last year HNL-LAX on an T7 as *G and got the absolute shittiest seat on the plane.

Alec84 , be sure to start checking at 24 hours before departure time for free Main Cabin Extra (extra-leg-room) seats, an additional benefit of your OWR status through Finnair.

ALB likely better upgrade odds, especially if you take very early or late flights. If you are looking at LGA and ALB, look at BDL, too. Connecticut and New York have different school break schedules. ALB is 15 minutes from my home, but can save big by going to BDL during NY school breaks. Upgrade odds a little better at ALB than BDL.

As a former *G, I am trying to make a similar transition to OW. *A alliance benefits on partners have been watered down so much that it's not worth jumping through hoops to retain. I am hoping OW doesn't follow this path.
