Hiya all! I wanted to report a surprisingly positive experience with AA today in the midst of the recovery. My husband and daughter are flying AA ALB-CLT-CHS this evening. Both flights are delayed. Originally, when the misconnect was assumed, a proactive text message came with hotels to book in CLT. My first thought was “oh crap, they’ve been rebooked”, but as far as I can see they’ll make the connection and arrive home tonight.
I clicked on the link AA sent (of course) and it was for a few options in CLT. They were marked “Premium” with a blue banner at the top. They are flying on paid main cabin fares that I paid to upgrade to F for ToD (literally). They have no status and all of this seems to almost border on overcompensating on the part of AA. That said, we’ll take it. I’ll dismiss the hotel offer once I’m confident they’ll make the connection in CLT. |

I saw that last night and just sadly laughed to myself knowing it was partly the truth. I used to work on the DOD's domestic logistics system and we could only make it work on IE 6 and a very specific version of windows that had to be air gapped to prevent any automatic updates.

Conversely, I know of others on DL still stranded as of this AM from Friday. |
Was on AA 238 LAX-JFK on Friday on a paid F fare, scheduled at 1130pm, cancellation was announced at 555 am.
Was able to run to the front of the line in the flagship lounge (later it would be a quarter mile long) and was placed stdby on the next flight at 605am. Hoped my F fare, BA GGL status (sometimes equates to CK, other to Plat Pro), AND my separate F reservation the same evening for the JFK FCO would help. Nope. On the following 3 flights I remained unsuccessfully stdby for an elusive Y seat. I saw non revs given seats, available seats in J and F given to people on upgrade lists (‘you don’t have priority for that’ an agent explained, another brushed me off as she had no time for questions), and kept sliding further down on the std by list at each flight that I was attempting to make. I was then before midday extremely lucky to buy one of the last remaining Y fares in JetBlue to JFK and made it barely to my late evening FCO flight As am not an AAdvantage member -but a very longtime Aa flyer- perhaps I am unaware that pax from cancelled flights on F fare do not have priority over upgrades on AA flights? |

Anyone have experience how long it takes AA to refund additional expenses due to a 23 hour delay? Was stuck in London for a day and just rebooked my airport hotel for an additional night. I know that under UK law AA is obliged to cover this, my only concern is that the hotel doubled its rate for the additional night, taking advantage of those of us who were delayed. 😡 Would be interested if anyone have past experience claiming hotel expenses.
