oneworld Ruby seat selection

Hello all,
I have an AA Main Cabin ticket on hold now for next week I might be taking from MOB-CLT-JAX. My BA account just updated today and I'm officially BA Bronze now which is OW Ruby. From what I understand BA Bronze members are supposed to get free preferred seats at booking and MCE at check in. For some reason though, AA is trying to charge me $32 to select a preferred seat on MOB-CLT and $20 to select one on CLT-JAX. My BA account is attached to the reservation. I used to be a status holder with AS and never had this issue, and I remember booking an AA flight the same day I got AS status back in May 2021 and had no issues getting the right seats. Does it take awhile for BA status to reflect on AA's end or what's going on here?

Remove your BAEC number from the AA PNR, and re-enter it in a day or two. If you are still not offered complimentary Preferred seats at that time, then call AA and explain the problem.

U just made Ruby! My hid it takes a little while for BA to populate other members oneworld. It could take between 3 and 7 days

Also, not u are only able to select preferred seats as a Ruby. You cant select a MCE seat until 24 hours prior to the flight

IIRC it can take a few days to a week for one's newly earned OW status to take effect across the alliance.

That's correct. Both the OP and I recognize that.

Thanks for the responses so far, I'll give it a few days but thankfully the flight wouldn't be til a week from tomorrow, so should be plenty of time to get sorted and everything.

You can select preferred seats as a Ruby as stated upthread, and MCE 24 hours prior is what I said in the original post, check in=24 hours.

Yep, I know that, I know it should be charging me for MCE until check in, but my issue was that they're currently trying to charge me for the green preferred seats.

Figured I'd update this, called AA two days after making this thread and even after deleting and adding my BA number again, it wouldn't let me pick a free preferred seat. They told me to give it a few more days. I then completely forgot about it until last night, then went to book a new flight in AA Main Cabin where it was letting me pick a free preferred seat. Looked at my flight on Wednesday afterward and it wouldn't let me get a free preferred seat still, so I called AA and had them delete and add my BA number again, and then it finally worked. So I noticed that it let me select my preferred seat 6 days after I actually got the status. Whether I had it before and didn't know I have no idea, but I noticed it last night. Problem solved though.

Great! Be sure to set an alarm for 24 hours before scheduled departure to try to snag an MCE seat.

AA Oneworld Ruby members are supposed to get free seats within seven days of departure on BA in J, too, but it is charging me to assign them for Ruby members. Does anyone know why that is?

If your AAdvantage number is in your BA reservation record, it's possible that BA does not "see" that you are AAdvantage Gold; there have been reports of others having a problem like that. Did you just recently make AAdvantage Gold, or have you had that status for a while?
