What time to arrive at small QRO, Mexico airport for 6AM flight?

Our flight to DFW leaves at 6 AM from Queretaro, a small regional airport in Mexico.

The airport it about 90 minutes from where we are staying and there are no hotels worthy of an overnight near the airport.

Our flight is on a CR9. We are in business class.

Any recommendations for arrival time to the airport? 2 hours still the rule for this scenario?

My gut would say aim for a 0430-0445 arrival. I have a feeling at 4am the terminal would be deserted, but you'd definitely want to be at the check in desk before an hour before departure.

Tough decision as to what to do. I remember flying out of LRD earlier in the year. Got checked in plenty early. But there were no security screeners. We all had to loiter in the main lobby. About 45 minutes (maybe closer to 60) prior to departure, three or four TSA agents and two Border Patrol agents showed up to open the checkpoint.

I bet the situation is similar where you are departing from.

No later than 4:30 and I'd get there at 4:00.

According to aa.com, the ticket counter opens at 3:30am. I would get there at 4am, better safe than sorry.

"In most locations, you must be checked in:

At least 45 minutes before scheduled departure, for flights within the United States
At least 60 minutes before scheduled departure, for flights to or from airports outside of the United States"

BTW, today AA 5738 departed Queréraro Intercontinental Airport at 5:53 AM.

I have been reading stories of passengers arriving just short of 2 hours at the sister airport in Leon (BJX) and USA airlines denying them a boarding pass especially those that have not done OLCI.

I'll play it safe and arrive 2+ hours.

... or chutzpah.

Actually, I wonder if they did have flights to somewhere in South America at some time?

Live in San Miguel de Allende, QTO is 50 minutes away. I'd arrive 1.5 hours before the flight if you have status, otherwise 2 hours. At Leon I've never had a problem taking it right up to 5 minutes prior to the 1 hour cutoff.

I was flying to QRO almost weekly throughout last winter as I had a client down there.

For the 6am flight, a 4:45 arrival is just fine. I arrived at 5:15 a few times and had no problems checking in and getting boarding passes either, though.

Miket,

Is the airport 50 minutes away? I was told it was really just a few minutes less than the 85+ minute drive to BJX.

We have a house in SMA but have never flown out of QRO....always BJX.

There are plenty of decent hotels near QRO. Maybe not the Ritz but hardly roach motels. I had a trip planned out of there last year but ended up canceling but I saw no issues with the hotels on offer, especially if it is just for an overnight prior to boarding an early flight as was my case.
