I'm still having trouble parsing out what I have access to at JFK. I'm Executive Platinum flying to Madrid on American but in coach. Will I have access to the Premium Check-In area? Which of the lounges will I have access to?

Yes, an EXP flying on a same day qualifying flight you can use the Premium check-in area and have access to the Soho Lounge.

Your EXP status on a long-haul international flight allows you access to the Greenwich or Soho lounge; the latter is the "better" one. Your Soho lounge access grants you access to the Premium Check-in Area.

I wondered this when I had an early flight a few months ago. Was in the Soho Lounge around 6.30am and assumed alcohol was off limits but saw someone else get a Bloody Mary or similar and the bartender was happy to make me one too...I usually fly ex-JFK in the afternoons so never an issue but I recall a few years back being told local law didn't permit booze before a certain time.
