Consistent problems with AA.com
What the heck is wrong with aa.com lately?
Half the time I get "Access denied" or "Site in maintenance"...
Anyone else having this issue as well?

Yep. It's been bad on and off for months. Every 3-4 searches I get the "access denied". It comes and goes in batches and clearing cookies makes little difference.
The last 3-4 days, the new added twist of five day holds not working on my award flights. The hold appears to not go through, get a message that says "we're having trouble with our site, try again later". However shortly after that the flight might show up in my summary with a "hold", but on closer inspection it's either a same day hold only or expires the next day. I say "might" because ~ 50% have followed this pattern and 50% have just disappeared.
These are flights three weeks out so normal 5 day hold procedures should still apply. Fortunately I had enough available miles to purchase the "maybes" for what I need - (purchases always went through fine) - and sort them out later, but not everyone will be able to do that. It's been exasperating not understanding if there's changes in work or just glitches at aa.

My app completely disappeared. When I go into the App store I can open it to my information but I can't get the app to load. I updated the app and it still won't appear, again unless I go back through the App store.

Lots of problems as of late. Parts of site have vanished such as the route map. And frequently code share flights will result in "one or more flights are no longer available" when you try to actually book them. When trying to use from overseas I often need a VPN to book the flights. I have given up and just booked the flights on the partner instead just to be able to get it to actually go through even though fewer EQD and EQM.

I've only experienced these errors a couple times since that weekend. But ya, AA.com is a joke.

The same day holds are temporary while you are finishing the payment/hold checkout pages. They auto-cancel after ~15 minutes if you don't complete the purchase. It's to hold your seats and pricing while you get out your CC and type in the number, etc. If you get to the payment page then jump to your list of upcoming flights you will see the temporary record for that reservation.

Yesterday, it would not even show my reservation list. A few minutes later it showed the list of reservation, but would not let me see the details. A few minutes after this, it worked

The fact that every single time I try to access the site I get "access denied, your server location has been blocked" or "our site is undergoing maintenance.. please contact us at 1-800..." is pathetic and laughable.
So internationally focused. NOT. They *really* *don't give* a rat's behind.
I proactively avoid AA these days despite having been 4+MM Plat... I truly find them awful

Okay, so there's some IT issue specific to where you're at in France. Have you made them aware of it, or just groaning here?
As an aside I've been on both the site and app frequently here the past few weeks, no issue from the Charlotte area.

Yes I have made Web Services aware of it for the record but as you can imaginethey dont have the slightest notion of how this plays out outside the golden gates of the 50 US states. And as you can imagine, esoteric issues like this arent high on their priority list (nor do they even care about the multiple ongoing issues within the site very AA).
Accessing their local sites does not work either since they have limited functionality- aside from booking they forward you to the US website.
Glad to hear its working fantastically for you in Charlotte. As you can see from multiple comments above, its not just me groaning.
