I’d hate to be waiting behind a horse in an emergency evacuation.

If it makes me evil, so be it. Horses should not be in the passenger cabin at all, it is not safe for them to be there. As other FTers have said - what happens in the event of an evacuation? I realise some people have guide horses rather than guide dogs, but not on aircraft please.

Ahem ... extender seat belt? Or just pray nothing goes wrong? Unsecured cargo like this is insane.

Come on, FAA, step up to the plate and stop this sort of stupidity.

Because miniature horses are actual service animals. They, along with dogs, are federally-regulated, can be trained to complete tasks, and have a much longer lifespan than dogs, which means they can make more sense for people with certain disabilities.

But what is Mr Ed? ESA or service animal? The article says well, both?

"Froese has trained Fred to be a therapy and a service horse"

A therapy animal is not necessarily an ESA....

Certain things don't belong on an a/c. Most dogs and cats can be picked up and carried in the event of an emergency evacuation. A horse, even a miniature one cannot.

Dare I ask what this bloody horse actually does?

Does it pick up the phone, or something that’s been dropped? An ‘assistance horse’?
Or is it just ‘emotional’, as in “I like horses and can’t cope without one.”

God bless America, land of the vaguely sane! See you in July!

OK, that’s great. Huzzah for mini-horse.

Now, can I please return to some basic questions:
1. What does this one do, that makes it so important/essential that it has to fly in the passenger cabin?
2. What are the safety implications of an un-restrained mini-horse in a passenger cabin diring take-off, landing or turbulence?
3. What are the implications of a mini-horse in an emergency evacuation? Is it trained/capable of using an emergency evacuation slide?

How is this even vaguely justifiable in the interests of the SAFETY of other passengers?

Lucky the Horse is not also trans-gender (or maybe it is) otherwise we'd have the authorities climbing all over this thread (and I agree the world is going mad and I would prosecute those people just looking to get carriage of their animals for free under false pretences as well as the Doctors who are stupid enough to give them a scrip in the first place saying they need them).

In charge? It’s an open Forum, isn’t it? I’m just asking questions.

Have a nice day.
