This is my guess, as well...75L (757-200) crew might be in shorter supply in DFW since it's a less common aircraft for DFW-based flights. Crew would be common to the 767 cockpit but there aren't a ton of those operating from DFW now, either. I watch this flight (DFW-KEF) since I'm due to fly it later this year.

It could be the inbound crews were commuters and their inbound flights didn't make it in?
AA then were out of reserves?
Those flights would have had originating crews at DFW - but those crews might have commuted in and their flights might have had issues.
Given the relatively short hours of those flights, they should have been able to take a few hours delay before the crew went out of hours.

Yes I think it’s most likely they were commuters. Having lived within 180 miles of DFW all my life I know how spring works here. Just a reminder to me that crew might be delayed like everyone else. Next time I will hover near the agents in the club when things are happening like this. Just in case we can get that J seat to DUB or wherever. Now at KEF. Iceland Air from DUB could teach AA a thing or 2. No less than 8 specialty gins, real champagne, and a decent meal.

Is it just me, or have there been more disruptive storms this year? I feel like there's been at least one a week recently. I've wanted to check out the new FL but both of my flights through DFW in the last month have been rerouted due to weather. Based on my own personal experience, DFW has become less reliable than ORD. And I've seen way more of the CLT airport than I have wanted.

I'm glad OP's trip wasn't completely ruined.

For those of us who remember when everything was blamed on El Nino .... one of the reasons AA bought TWA was because of the St. Louis hub. There had been extensive storms the past two years that had caused tons of problems in ORD and DFW. AA thought that having another hub between DFW and ORD would help deal with that issue.

Usually the weather would have settled down by now with the hot, dry summer heat taking hold. And overall, yes, DFW has been hit with a few more major disruptions that normal.

Looks like there will be another round of strong to severe storms forecast for tomorrow afternoon.

Are commuters penalized for missing flights? I know Envoy gets something like 4 excused misses a year for commuting issues are long as they allow (don't quote me exactly) 2 or so flights between their initial attempt to get to their base and their assigned trip flight.

EC261 does not apply to non EU carriers on flights to the EU.
The original flight was DFW-KEF on AA. You would be eligible for EU compensation if there were issues with the DUB-KEF flight on the EU carrier
