Uh... That is exactly what I said. I said I am ending my relation w/ Citigold cos they are ending their relation w/ AAdvantage and their CS sucks.

I agree. Except, I will end my relationship with programmes that are ending their relation with AAdvantage. One such instance is the Citibank AAdvantage debit card. I am ending my relationship w/ Citigold in favour of Charles Schwab because Citibank's customer service is criminally inept. Without the ability to earn airline miles on debit purchases, there is no longer a reason to stay.

Ok, I'm confused, Currently, all earned miles count? So if you hit 1 million BEFORE Dec 1, you're included in that measurement, but afterwards, even if you were 999,999 miles earned, you revert to basically how many lifetime EQM you've earned?

No, your MM Miler count will equal your program to date count on 12/1. If you have earned 999,999 miles, you will only need to make a flight that is 1 mile or greater to achieve lifetime gold status. Starting 12/1, only actual flight miles (and miles from the expensive Citi AAdvantage card) will add to your MM Miler count.

Ahhh, Ok, so until then it's RDM's I've gotten, then after that they only add in the EQM's.

Interesting. I'm pretty sure I will not be getting the new Elite Citi card either. It's like an Amex Plat, sounds good on paper, but the actual useable benefit will be much less in practice.

It's actually far worse than the Amex Platinum, as they are no real re-imbursable bennies that bring the cost/benefit ratio up. With the AmPlat, you've got the partner-airline $200 benefit, Global Entry fee-refund, and quite a few more. Along with several airline lounge partners, the AmPlat isn't that bad (for travelers). With this Citicard, there are none of the bennies, except the AC membership, and after the 1st year, no MM earnings either.

I am absolutely amazed how this question keeps getting asked over and over again, especially when, the very first post in this thread, from the authoritative source actually answers this question.

As promised, today I’m sharing with you the details of the new AAdvantage® Million MilerSM program.

Here’s how it’s going to work:

Starting December 1, 2011, AAdvantage base miles earned by flying on American Airlines, American Eagle® or the AmericanConnection® carrier or any AAdvantage program participating airline will count towards Million Miler status...
...
...
You might be wondering about the AAdvantage miles you’ve earned so far. The good news is that when the Million Miler program launches on December 1, your starting Million Miler balance will include every AAdvantage mile you’ve ever earned since joining the program. And any Million Miler status or benefits you’ve earned so far remain as well.

...
...

I simply don't believe this is ambiguous.

What other interpretation could you have?

Not exactly EQM's, because EQM's also include "applicable minimum mileage guarantees", like the 500 that elite flyers get. Based on what was in the intial announcement, the Million Miler count will only go up based on "base miles earned".

Global Entry fee refunded??? :-o I get it through NEXUS, so I assume they don't refund that fee. :(

mm promos after 12/1/11?

After 12/1/11, when MM rules change, is there a possibility that aa will start running special MM offers (like they do now with deqm's, for example)?
[I made 2MM, mainly from bis miles and associated bonus miles as well as other double miles offers--very little from non-flying activity. Under their new system, it will take about 10 years worth of 100,000 bis miles to reach 3MM.]

I think it is possible just by looking at the next year allowing miles from the Citi Executive card to count. This will be a way to influence behavior on certain AAdvantage activities. It would be impossible to prove that there isn't a possibility. :)

For now, the AmEx Plat does refund NEXUS fees as well. I applied for NEXUS for Mrs. HH and myself and paid for the two $50 fees using my AmEx plat. A $100 credit showed up on the next statement. The Membership Rewards thread should have current status on this.

That is what I'm wishing for!

The new, expensive MasterCard will do me no good at all. I need more ways to get AA miles that count toward LT status after 12/1/11.

Flying miles just don't add up so quickly.

Which is, of course, why many (myself included) believe that AA changed the program!
