Unfortunately AA then muddies the waters by saying in the FAQ right below that:
For some reason, I completely overlooked the "Million Miler" tab on my account (d'oh!), which shows that I did indeed get actual BiS miles added for AA-marketed flights, rather than the fare-based "Base Miles". My BA-marketed flights were in PE so I can't tell, but the careful distinction drawn in your quote makes it clear that getting less than 100% is indeed possible.

Data point: flew SEA-BOS on AS as an AA marketed flight, got 100% distance in my MM miles.
Flew the return as a AS flight number, got 50% of the distance in my MM miles. |

I documented my experience of crossing the 2MM mark here:
I will definitely tweet if and when I cross 4MM - still very long way to go. Alex_I |
no change from 2011 that i can see

PlatinumPro and the Million Miler Program
Is anyone aware of AA's plan to integrate PlatinumPro status? i.e. 3,4, and 5MM's stay at the Lifetime PLT level or get elevated to Pro status? If no elevation, I'd sure like to hear the rationale......

Information seems to indicate that they will only give out lifetime status up to PLT. As PLT-PRO will have unlimited comp domestic upgrades, I can understand why they want to reserve that for people who fly the airline a ton each year and not give that out for life.

As shared in the Million Miler thread, AA has stated they have no intention of adding PlatinumPro orvExecutivevPlatinum for lifetime status.

Million Miler miles on partner flight calculation
It was my understanding that actual miles flown count as Million Miler miles, and indeed that's how AA flights have been posting. However, my wife just flew on AS (discounted Y) and credited to AA. She was only credited the base miles as Million Miler miles, which were a small fraction of the actual flown miles. I guess this is how it works now? I knew she wouldn't earn many RDMs for the flight but I figured every little bit towards 2MM helps as she is at 1.9M now. It was a little bit indeed.

For Million Miler purposes:
All AA coded flights are 100% flight miles. All partner coded flights are the base miles you earn. This means, for discount Y, <100% of the flight miles, and 100% flight miles for full Y and premium cabins. |
Merged with our existing discussion and Wiki about AA's Million Miler program. Thanks. /Moderator

Acceleration of MM status?
I gave up on UA at 600K miles and I'm now flying AA. I'm only at 385K miles in the AA million miler program and it will be doubtful I'll ever make the million.
Are there any accelerators that will help me get to this level? I'd like to have lifetime gold status when I retire! |
No accelerators anymore; avoid discounted economy tix on OW partners as that is a decelerator.
|
Some interesting news: MM members are receiving "forever" MM status cards that are not dated / don't expire.

Does anyone know if lifetime status is kept, even if the account goes dormant?
What is considered dormant these days anyway? Is it 18 months w/o activity? |
I believe staus kept miles could be lost
I am reaching way back now but I do believe you will keep your status, but if you go 18 months without any transaction you will loose your miles.
