Question Where is the SWU available? (Are SWU usable / useful?)

I've got a few SWU on AA but cannot find anything outside of the US to use them. I cannot find ANYTHING and really hate wasting a SWU on a domestic flight! Help!!

Do you have expertflyer? It lets you search 7 days at a time.

This again.

Currently - AA SWU advance inventory on international longhauls is very difficult (but not impossible) to find. Attempting to book a trip solely based on SWU availability in advance is likely to be a very frustrating experience. On the other hand: booking a trip someplace you want or need to go and then clearing a SWU off a waitlist is entirely possible.

Suggest OP read one of the other threads on this topic, starting with: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/amer...thread-39.html

AA's longest flight, AA125, from DFW to HKG has C5 on Sunday, how about that?

Otherwise, there are quite a bit availability to South America in August

I'd be curious if that just popped up in the last day or two or has been out there for weeks/months. Have you been tracking that flight? Last time I took it, with two non-status friends, availability literally opened at the gate and they got the last two seats with a pair of my systemwides.

The last time this exact complaint came up a few weeks ago I found tons of SWU space to Europe in the fall on the first dates I checked.

System Wide Upgrade - Don't care where I go, just want to use (to merge)

I would suspect that Easter Sunday would be extremely unpopular flying day as you'd miss the holiday on both sides of the flight (and Easter is part of a 4 day weekend for HK). I'm trying to think of another holiday that would be equally unpopular and can only guess New Years Eve might be similar?

Figures. I am flying DEN-HKG on this Sunday - but purposefully booked the night flight thru LAX on 193 (12:55am departure on Monday) because it's usually better for upgrades. And it's not looking promising.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

CLT-LHR tends to have a decent bit. Believe RDU-LHR and JFK-LHR also does.

HKG might have some backlog due to severe weather conditions in the last 48 hours. I guess some J might have been rebooked to Sat/Sun flights. Otherwise, LAX on non-peak is usually quite easy to clear.

PS: my own TATL flights both ways got cleared on T-2 and T-12, without using EF.
