Experiencing a real a real banner day for AA. Booked PHX-ORD-RDU
- AA 2507 PHX-ORD. Scheduled for 5:15 AM. I wake up at 3:30 AM to find it's been delayed until 9:30 AM as the original plane broke. It's further delayed until 10:10 AM after the new plane they find for us, a 9 AM arrival from MIA of all places, has maintenance issues in MIA. That plane ends up diverting to DFW. They found a new plane for us and we left at 10:07 AM. I currently have 20 minutes to make my connection
- AA 942 ORD-RDU. Cancelled due to maintenance so even if my first flight had been on time I still wouldn't have got home on time.
What a mess.

AA563 PHL to Clt on April 12 was canceled. Not sure if it was weather delayed or due to moving planes around for the MAX issue.
I was just checking terminals to get an idea of where I might be tomorrow (taking #563 on April 13) and found it was canceled.
Hope they don't cancel it two days in a row!

DFW-BOS
an already delayed flight due to weather, we just turned around and are now waiting on a mechanic to fix a lavatory issue.
Likely wont get to BOS until 4 AM assuming the flight isn’t canceled altogether.
update: now cancelled.. Going for GreAAt

"Inspired" by a series of recent witnessed delays/cancellations/meltdowns on long-haul international flights, I'm going to attempt to revive this thread a little. If others would like to contribute, please feel free--let's see if we can keep this up!
[For reference, there's a similar thing going on in the UA forum: Consolidated delayed/cancelled international flights (2019)]
4/24 AA125 DFW-HKG rolling delays and subsequently cancelled due to MX
4/26 AA125 DFW-HKG diverted to ICN and subsequently delayed 24h into HKG due to en-route WX leading to lack of fuel (as discussed extensively in another thread)
5/3 AA957 MIA-SCL delayed 12h due to MX
5/3 AA62 MIA-CDG delayed 7.5h due to MX (they took the plane assigned to AA957 and gave it to this flight, yet that plane sat for almost 6h on the ground in MIA for reasons unknown)
5/3 AA984 MVD-MIA delayed 18h due to MX (they awaited a set of mechanics on the inbound AA989)
5/3 AA42 ORD-VCE delayed 4h due to [???]
5/4 AA127 DFW-PVG delayed 8h due to MX and subsequent crew timeout/crewing issues
5/4 AA787 CDG-CLT diverted to RDU due to WX in CLT, no FIS gate available, WX hit right when the gate became available, eventually delayed 6h into CLT

5/6 AA86 ORD-LHR delayed 8h due to MX

April 29 AA126 from Hong Kong to DFW was delayed 6 hours (due to AA 125 diversion on 4/26 and crew rest requirements). Was able to get re-booked on Cathay through JFK. original re-booking had me overnight in DFW because I would miss the last flight to RDU. .Delays and cancellations are unavoidable; its how they treat you in dealing with them that matters to me. For the most part I have had positive experiences.

I have been on a terrible streak in 2019...
2/22 RDU-LHR Rolling delays and then cancelled due to MX
2/27 LHR-RDU Delayed 2-3 hours due to MX
5/8 RDU-DFW One delay and then cancelled due to WX in DFW
5/8 was sent to ORD instead (on UA) to avoid missing my flight to Tokyo, then delayed 2 hours ORD-NRT for MX
(not AA, but diverted HND-SYD on this trip is as well for a blown engine....can't wait to see what happens trying to return home tomorrow!)
Don't have a ton of faith in the AA wide-body fleet....I think 40% of my international flights this year have had some sort of mechanical issue

I have noticed a lot of crew timeouts recently on relatively short delays. For example, a 1 hour delay results in the crew being illegal - are they short crew right now and having to tightly book the ones they have or is this the Project Oasis of crew scheduling?

HKG-DFW for 5/17 delayed until 7am 5/18. Looks like inbound LAX plane returned to LAX, and they are waiting for DFW crew to time back in.
