SDC, Downgrade, EQMs
Let's say I am on a paid F ticket and want to SDC. If only Y is available can I take it, and if I do, will I still get the double EQM's permitted by the fare class?
I assume the EQD's would not change since I'm paying the same amount.
I'm on a tight "budget" to make Plat Pro but I have a very ill relative and if they pass away I might have to scramble. If I have to change my day of travel I will probably get an award ticket home and then use the residual value of the return ticket to hopefully book a MR. On the route I fly, F is around $600-650 oneway and Y roundtrip is around $450 so I should be able to come close - although I won't really be thinking of a change fee or the like, I'll be thinking of family.

For changing the day- I had a similar situation a few months ago. Was on a trip and needed to get back earlier (and to a different airport) due to the passing of a family member. Change fees were waived without sending in any documentation (although I was prepared to)
not sure about the EQM

I will obviously ask for a waiver of any change fees/repricing. It would be a nice thing for AA to do, but it's hard to construct a sentence using both "Nice" and "Dougie."
This may affect a different trip, where I'd have to change the outbound date.
I'll just do what I have to do when the time comes.
