AA basic economy fare with BA Silver

Hello! If I book a basic economy fare with AA and put in my BA details - does Saphire still get myself and partner on the booking carry on/hold luggage allowance and lounge?

Yes, oneworld elites would board earlier than Group 9, so you would still be able to bring a carry on bag.

As a sapphire you will get lounge access as well, I do not believe that fare class has any impact on that.

The one thing that you give up with a Basic Economy fare would be advance seat selection.

Thanks MathMusic. That includes the hold luggage allowance too?

the reason I am double checking is on a BA basic fare elites do not get the baggage allowance for the hold....

This has been discussed before in other threads. The exceptions to the BE fare restrictions do not extend to OW. They are only for AA elites. Some have reported that GA's have permitted OW elites the exemption and that others have not. The exact language appears below.

Also note that unlike other AA domestic tickets, these fares are non-changeable and non-refundable. Other than for involuntary reasons, e.g. flight cancellation, you must fly exactly as ticketed. Before purchasing, I would absolutely consider whether that represents good value.

AAdvantage elite status members and eligible Citi / AAdvantage or AAdvantage AviatorTM Mastercard cardmembers are exempt from certain restrictions.**

This is not correct in so far as OneWorld Elites get full baggage allowance (for all passengers on the ticket) on AA's domestic basic fares.

It is a direct quote from AA's baggage rules as published on AA's website.

Not suggesting that OP can't try or that an agent won't comp him as a courtesy, but he doesn't have a leg to stand on when an AA employee applies AA's published rules.

The PNR will say different if the OP contacts the AA team either through social media or the phone.

Has anyone got any more experience of these fare types on AA?

In terms of baggage allowance, lounge access, seat selection and tier points...

I saw you're BA Gold and mentioned tier points. I "almost" booked one, luckily, found out B fare does not earn tier point. Make sure you are aware of it, even though it's only 5 TP per short segment. I paid extra $20 (become Q fare) to earn 10 TP, and have seat selection in main cabin extra section, I won't consider this is a bad deal.

I booked a transatlantic basic economy ticket (with iberia flight numbers) through an OTA and (once I rang up AA and got the correct PNR) was able to select main cabin extra exit row seats online as BA silver.
Does anyone know if I'll be able to check in a bag for free?

Is this true for BA operated TATL flights? Does it matter if it is a BA flight number or an AA codeshare flight number?
The BA website has an asterisk and suggests that there is 0 checked baggage allowed for everyone.

What about companions on the same reservation?
I'm AA PT and trying to decide which fare class to purchase for SFO-LHR.

From what I can tell, an AA elite on a BA operated flight regardless of flight number or codeshare (such as a TATL) booked in their equivalent of Basic Economy does not get checked/hold baggage allowance. I think you need to try and move up to a higher BA class (S?) to get that aspect.
