Incoming Flight Landing at Different Gate?

Here's a strange circumstance...

In tracking a flight I will be on, that flight (CLT-MCI) tomorrow shows PHL-CLT as the incoming flight for it. However, PHL-CLT is landing at a different gate than CLT-MCI is taking off from. This doesn't really make any sense to me. Anyone ever see this? Is it just that they'll adjust it as the flight gets closer? Or is there a glitch in the system for what is showing as the incoming flight?

Many of the gates switch overnight as everything isn't synced up yet for tomorrow's schedule. It's very possible the incoming flight will change too as dispatch adjusts plane schedules overnight depending on where planes need to be the next day for maintenance, etc.

Gates change all the time. I wouldn't be surprised to not find your gate changed but also the incoming flight destination as well.

For example tonight I was flying from PHL-DEN. The incoming was from ORD (running late but still arriving 1 hour from ORD before the PHL-DEN segment). Out of the blue the plane switched from an inbound from CUN which had been sitting at the gate for a while.

We still ended up being delayed 15 minutes because the flight attendant crew was late from their inbound.

I couldn't even begin to explain why the air frame was changed in this instance but it does happen.

Moral of the story - watch for plane changes and therefore check a few times as nothing is guaranteed, especially at a hub.

When I woke up this morning, the gates synced up. The incoming flight is still the same for now. I'm hoping it stays this way since I'm supposed to be on the incoming flight, which will make things easier in case there are any delays leaving out of PHL later today (although I know that can always change).

Wouldn't it be great if the flights landed at the gates? Would save all that taxiing time.
