This doesn't really make any sense to me. Anyone ever see this? Is it just that they'll adjust it as the flight gets closer? Or is there a glitch in the system for what is showing as the incoming flight?
Gates change all the time. I wouldn't be surprised to not find your gate changed but also the incoming flight destination as well.
For example tonight I was flying from PHL-DEN. The incoming was from ORD (running late but still arriving 1 hour from ORD before the PHL-DEN segment). Out of the blue the plane switched from an inbound from CUN which had been sitting at the gate for a while.
We still ended up being delayed 15 minutes because the flight attendant crew was late from their inbound.
I couldn't even begin to explain why the air frame was changed in this instance but it does happen.
Moral of the story - watch for plane changes and therefore check a few times as nothing is guaranteed, especially at a hub.
