2017 Program Year Elite Status Buyback / Renew / Boost (as of 16 Nov 2016)
For the 2018 AAdvantage program year thread, see 2018 Program Year Elite Status Buy back / Buyback / Renew / Boost (master thd) .
"Grace" for those close to completing status requirements has not been offered since AA began the buyback / renew / boost program.
In previous years, AA (and US) have offered those who failed to requalify for elite status the opportunity to buy back or "boost" status for the following status year. That offer is extended for the 2017 programme year, and is be discussed here. E-mails have gone out to many members (16 Nov) with tailored offers.
Complied a list of people's offers here. List is current up to post #51
Code:

Yes, I understand that $899 may be reasonable relative to EXP boost. However, I qualified far over the 75k minimum that would now be required. I think $899 is incredibly expensive and frankly would be surprised if anyone accepted this insane price.
Mod - please merge if you think appropriate, but figured this might be worth a new thread

PlatPro value seems to be more heavily weighted toward earlier this year... if you also have travel expected early in the year.
If I had:
- PlatPro-level travel projected for the year
- only Plat status
- Routes that offer some prospect of complementary upgrades
I'd probably pay it. Sameday flight change is also something I value. $75 a month

Just as an aside, there should be a PlatPro offer for every person who did 60k to 85k EQM in 2016. At 85k, you may have an EXP offer.
I think the $899 offers seems harsh for the example above since the poster indicates spending $9k EQD and over 75k EQM. Frankly, they are over valuing the 'free' e500 upgrades i think.

61k EQM's last year. Plat Pro buy-up offer of $1,749. I laughed. No thanks. I'll be at 50k EQM's and over $8k of spend by end of January.

Loving the continued stealth devaluation of PLT. Flew almost 70k and offered PLT+ for $1449. Not at all worth it IMHO.

Get Platinum Pro status first
Hi all I (a more than 50K but less than 75K plat in 2016) just got an offer to get immediate platinum pro status for the low low price of $1449 (good until January 2018).

Get AAdvantage® Platinum Pro now for $1,099
Just got my offer. I came in at 73k EQM for 2016 and made Platinum for 2017.
Somehow I think PPs and above will have much better chances at upgrades going forward.

I received the email offer this morning, $1,949.
I'll pass on that. I can't remember exactly how many EQM I had in 2016, I think around 60k.
The benefits of this tier seem to be:
* domestic upgrades at 72 hours (instead of 48)
* unlimited domestic upgrades (versus free for under 500, otherwise stickers)
I have tons of stickers that I'm not able to use anyway, so I think I can deal with a day later in the upgrade queue.

There's a lot of flying I can do for $2K in MCE as Platinum.

I just got it. I was just shy of 70K EQMs and was offered PP for $1449 as well.
Of course, had they just allowed me to earn last year to begin on January 1, I would have pushed for a couple more work trips.
It's stupid to say you can't earn it until Jan 1, then turn around and sell it less than 2 weeks into the year.
