Redeeming AA miles on Interjet Codeshare
AA has a codeshare agreement with Interjet, which covers quite a few Mexico destinations that AA doesn't operate. When I search aa.com for revenue tickets, everything is good. Route: OAX-MEX-LAX.
When I search for award tickets I get this message "There are currently no awards available on AA.com for your requested Origin and Destination. Please modify your request or contact AAdvantage Reservations for award opportunities on all AAdvantage participating airlines."
Is there really no way to redeem tickets for this award even though they are 'American' flights, or if I call, will they be able to see availability?
Thanks!

As a rule, you can't book codeshare tickets with miles, so any award ticket on another airline is booked as that airline's marketed and operated flights. AAdvantage's partnership with Interjet is described here:

According to this page, miles can be only earned on AA-coded Interjet flights, not redeemed, so you're out of luck in that respect. However, using miles to book your ticket to MEX and paying cash for the flights to OAX (whether on Interjet, Volaris, or another carrier) may be cost-effective.
