A waiver is usually $129 for international travel and $69 for domestic travel. This can also be paid with miles.

You can also book multiple rooms here too, specifying the number of guests per room.I don't think you can book hotel to be in a different city though. A hotel in a different city (or continent, even) can be booked, but must be done over the phone.

Does anyone know if the PDP can be used for changes only once (and then it is considered used)? I want to "upfare" (the fare bucket in the same cabin), and this may require to use the PDP for the change fee? Would AA vacations be able to do it? ...I am nervous they will mess my reservation and the asterisk, lol, but I guess I have to call AA vacations for this, right?

The re-issued reservation will almost definitely lose the asterisk in the email you receive, but it will still be in the actual reservation, at least IME. What I usually do is ask them to add Agent Notes that indicate "Special Fare" just so I have it in there. But I've always considered the original with-asterisk email as my confirmation.

I wondered the same thing myself as I just got PDP for the first time. I called to change an airport and inquired. Seems that it is not a one-time thing. Changes may be made up until the deadline (I think it's something like up until flight tme?) as many times as you want, with only the fare difference. In my case, it went down, so I got money back. Then I went up in class (to R), so it went up a little for that.
The re-issued reservation will almost definitely lose the asterisk in the email you receive, but it will still be in the actual reservation, at least IME. What I usually do is ask them to add Agent Notes that indicate "Special Fare" just so I have it in there. But I've always considered the original with-asterisk email as my confirmation.

As of today, one can now pay the entire itinerary with miles. Previously, it was only the land portion, which left the air as paid, earning EQM/EQD/EQS.
According to the agent, even booked with miles it still earns EQM (oddly), but no EQD (as expected).
It can still be done (land portion only) but one has to call (and they will waive the fee). He was going to send it up the line to add this as an automated feature, but, as he said "you're ahead of the curve and we haven't thought about this yet."
Be warned for now.

- All-in-all it took like 45 minutes. Not pleased with that.
- First priced it out in cash, and then agent had to spend time figuring the land portion (hotel + car in this case)
- Complete understanding by the agent of what I wanted to do (which was good)
- Seemed to take a really long time for this part of the calculation
- Can now pay the PDP with miles as well, which is a nice plus for me
- Had the agent add a couple of Agent Notes: 1) my standard "this is a special fare" that I do every time I call as the asterisk doesn't show up. 2) The fare was purchased with a CC and qualifies for full EQM and EQD (just in case
)
Really hope that they fix this so it can be done on-line (along with allowing open-jaw online, which I'm told is "on the list.")

I asked the same thing because of the distance base. I guess that rationale is that, if you don't pay any dollars, you get no dollars, even if the dollars are actually calculated based on distance.
I believe (and they just rolled this out, so I would be sure to confirm several times on a future booking) is that full EQD would apply if only the land portion is paid by miles and the rest by cash (and they know this amount), and that no EQD apply if all miles. I don't know if they'd prorate the EQD if more than the land minimum, or make it a hard stop. But I an't takin' no chances

If I book a ticket thru AA vacations, would I be able to:
1) It is in an "I" fare and if the flight has upgrade availability -- will I be able to upgrade using an SWU?
2) Do I have to show up to the hotel and check in? I have another hotel I would rather stay at.
I would be saving almost 2k booking this way.

2) No, you don't have to check in to the hotel.

There was a big fare deal for travel to Europe that hit flyertalk and then the blogs yesterday that appeared to have overwhelming response for the site and caused technical difficulties.
