Concourses and Gates
The terminal at MIA is a single U-shaped building divided into 6 concourses. AA operates flights out of Concourses D & E.Concourse D: Gates D1-D60
Gates E20-E33 are located at the International Satellite Terminal, accessible via people mover on Level 4 just past the Concourse E security checkpoint. If the people mover is out of service, signs will direct passengers to the shuttle bus departing from the E1 Bus Station on Level 1

Tip: Upon exiting customs, you will be directed to the D FIS checkpoint. Access to and from the terminal is via the MIA Mover automated people mover.Arriving Passengers: After collecting your baggage, follow the black and pink signs to the MIA Mover station on the third level of the terminal, accessible via moving walkway. From there, board the MIA Mover to the Rental Car Center. Trains generally depart and arrive on the right track and run 24 hours a day. From 5 AM to midnight, trains run approximately every 3 minutes; from midnight to 5 AM, trains run approximately every 7 minutes. The train will reach the Rental Car Center in approximately 3 minutes. After exiting the station area, the rental car agencies will be located to your right.

Things to Do
Do I have time to go to Miami or Miami Beach?Downtown Miami Due to increased security checkpoint wait times, you should allow yourself at least 3 hours between connections if you do not have Priority or Pre✓. A taxi to the city center should take approximately 12-17 minutes and will cost approximately $22. Because traffic to and from the airport can be unpredictable, consider taking the Metrorail Orange Line in lieu of a taxi. It is a 15-minute ride from the airport to the city center and trains run every 10-15 minutes except late nights. A roundtrip is $4.50.
Miami Beach Allow at least 3½ hours between connections due to the possibility of heavy traffic on the highways between the beach and the mainland. A taxi to the beach should take approximately 22-27 minutes and will cost $35 (flat rate) if going south of 63rd Street. For reference, South Beach and most of the tourist spots are south of 23rd Street. Consider taking the 150 Miami Beach Airport Express bus from the airport to the beach. It is a 31-minute ride from the airport to the Lincoln Road Mall and buses run every 20 minutes. A roundtrip is $4.50.

International arrivals at MIA requires most passengers to fill out a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Declaration Form 6059B - one per family - process U.S. Immigration, retrieve baggage at arrivals carousels, process through U.S. customs, re-check baggage, proceed to either the TSA connections security processing queue or landside and process TSA security (with onward boarding pass) to return airside. (Read on for exceptions.)
This does not apply if you are connecting international to international and have red "ITI" tags on your checked baggage. You will have to produce the Form 6059B and still pass through USCBP, albeit without baggage.
Other than for U.S. passport holders and passengers with USDHS ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization under the Visa Waiver Program), who may use kiosks that expedite the arrivals process, Immigration, Customs and TSA Security queues can at times be tortuous and one would do better scheduling a connection time closer to 2:30 (or even 3:00) for a comfortable international to domestic or to international connection for non-ESTA / non-U.S. passport holders.
If one is enrolled in Global Entry and can use the dedicated kiosks and expedited queues, the process is speediest as there are clearly marked queues after the self-clearing kiosks and one is not required to possess a Form 6059B.

A Miami Connection Question
Could you tell me if this is do-able. We arrive from EWY at 12.4 and have an onward to LAX at 13.40. Will we have time? These would be separate PNRs and we would be hand luggage only but on Envoy you have to wait for them to bring it to you. MIA is a great barn of an airport. What do you think?

Could you tell me if this is do-able. We arrive from EWY at 12.4 and have an onward to LAX at 13.40. Will we have time? These would be separate PNRs and we would be hand luggage only but on Envoy you have to wait for them to bring it to you. MIA is a great barn of an airport. What do you think?
Yes the delays there are awful. I certainly would not do a one hour connection onto a separate PNR. And I wouldn't do it if I had chosen seats.

This is what is so priceless about FT - you Boys and Girls tell me as it is. AA show it as a proper connection if on the same PNR - I had my doubts. What you Gentlemen will not fully appreciate is that running around in heels is not my idea of a fun time. I have better things to do that ruin a pair of Jimmy Choos - if that reference means anthing.

Thank you all who were kind enough to advise me - and I have done what you said and booked a 5.50 departure to LAX and moved the EYW (sorry about my typos!) to a couple of hours later so that the wait would not be too long. There are some most pleasant Lounges in which we as BA Golds can wait and the flight gets to LAX at about 20.30 so we can drive up to Palm Springs on quieter roads.

I'm flying BOG-MIA-DFW. I currently have 1hr50m hours to connect in MIA, or I can take a flight that gives me 5h30m. I'd obviously prefer to get into DFW earlier but do not want lose my confirmed seat and have risk of standby.
Is it safe to stick with the 1h50m or should I just take the later flight for 5h30m hour connection? I won't have checked luggage and I have GE. 5h30m hours is a bit long to hang out at the AC/Amex lounge. I'm in J but neither that or AAEXP/AS OW*E allows access to FL lounge in MIA since they got rid of BOG access
. It will be a Thursday and I land at 530am in MIA. 720AM or 11AM choice for the connection flight.
I'm usually good with this amount of time but never connected INTL in MIA before. Will flying in from BOG cause extra screening, even with GE? Curious what the traffic is like in the morning from South American flights and also not sure how bad BOG-MIA can be delayed(it's the redeye, and the flight always comes in from DFW-MIA). Doesn't seem like too often when I look up AA1126 BOG-MIA.

Twice, before Covid, I connected in MIA from international to domestic with only 1:30 between arrival and departure. I ended up with time to visit the Admirals Club. The first time, the hoarded masses without Global Entry who, by and large, did not speak English, were blocking the GE members - who had already gotten the GE slip at the kiosk - from entering their dedicated line to see the CBP officers. There were several of us, so we firmly demanded to be let through and with a bit of gentle pushing we made it through.

Arrived last night at the 7pm rush on an international arrival on an Eagle flight that did not have pre-clearance.
The pilot announced we would arrive D60P and take a bus to customs. I'm EXP but never arrived on Eagle internationally before at MIA.
I thought great. The bus will take us to the customs area in the middle. That's the way it works almost everywhere in the world, right? You suffer through the bus but it takes you right to the hall and you get to avoid the walk.
Wrong.
We had to wait for everyone, including wheelchairs, to get on the bus.
It literally drove us for 1 minute from the D60 area to right where the outside gates stop around D55.
I guess there is no secure corridor to let us access the international arrivals area and here I thought we would at least get the advantage of being driven to the customs/immigration hall.
We then walked all the way to the customs area. No one broke off for SkyLink. I'm not sure why but we walked anyway.
At immigration I would say the middle GE kiosks had about 3/6 working. They were directing people to regular lines instead. I noticed one whole wall of GE machines at the far side (I guess coming from the low D's maybe) were all switched off.
After the recheck we went to the PreCheck line for connecting flights. It actually took longer than the regular lines. PreCheck had one line open and it was backed up as they had one staff member having people put their bags in trays for the new system. Why they had so many lines open for non-PreCheck and just one for PreCheck I don't know. This also caused big delays if you bag was pulled for secondary.
I guess getting off the aircraft at D60P and clearing security about 55 minutes later is pretty good for MIA but to me it was still really inefficient.
