Where are all these CR7s coming from to do these DFW flights? I didn't think any CR7s did Dallas flying.

I've noticed that DFW - AA has been transitioning to more CRJ- 700s from CRJ-200s and E-45s. It's nice to now have an F cabin when flying to AMA.

Or is it up to the whim of the gate agent?
The only regional jets on which you'll be permitted to carryon a full sized rollaboard are the E170/E175/E190s. The large Embraer planes have full-size overhead bins. If you're on any other RJ, big or small, it's planeside valet check (or jetbridge) where it's tagged, placed with the other luggage and returned to you when you arrive at planeside or jetbridge.

As AA takes delivery of more E175s (lots more on the way) and more CRJ900s (plenty more of them on the way), those new RJs are replacing CR7s, which in turn free up the CR7s to replace 44-seaters and 50-seaters. AA's fleet of 2-class RJs is growing by dozens each year after many years of numbering just 47 of them. So the regional planes are moving and shifting to different destinations.

Generally true, no doubt, but the bold portion above is not universally true. I have flown to two AA stations (SAF and CLL) where the valet bags are sometimes delivered planeside and sometimes delivered at the baggage claim mixed in with the rest of the checked bags. I have no idea who decides which delivery method to use; I have seen both methods used at both airports.

Thank you for your helpful reply. I will hope that we start getting large E jets on the DFW-ABQ route instead of the CR7s. Could be worse, I guess: could be a 319!

Thanks,

I hated when ABQ-ORD rid the E and went back to C7. Not happy that 3x a day now ABQ-DFW has the same crappy CR7. Just not a fan of that bird.

I will miss the MD80s when they fully disappear. Still love them.
