At 8:00 pm, when 44 landed, the weather at JFK was OK.
Saturdays generally have fewer flights, so it should have been easier for ATC to control inbounds. The planes already in the air should have priority--our flight could have remained in Syracuse longer, and not been in a position where a second diversion was even a possibility.

Thanks--but how was I to know what that meant? For me, "blue" items generally mean "click and go".

This is the only legitimate complain about this story--AA understaffing and/or bad management.

The amount of fuel loaded at SYR for the trip to JFK was entirely at AA's discretion. The fact that they almost did not load enough fuel based on the poor, and probably variable (and therefore subject to deterioration), weather issues in and around JFK was an AA problem, not ATC's.

ATC, thankfully, takes a neutral view of airplanes. It does not make favors, and if that flight had to divert again due to AA's skimping on fuel, so be it. And I fully support this philosophy.

And BTW, airplanes need to flight an approach before they land (shocking, I know), while avoiding airplanes departing and approaching all the other airports in the area (even more shocking!), so the weather at the airfield is not the only determinant as to the arrival rate available at an given time. There's ample evidence that JFK had a reduced arrival rate due to weather in the area that day.

Umm...Looks on time to me at this time. Snow's coming to Chicago today, so a delay on the LAX-ORD return flight wouldn't surprise me.

If it does get delayed, sometimes you can check with AACargo for the reason.

It's delayed.
FS had it delayed, changed to Scheduled, but AA app still has it delayed.
Flight Stats currently has ORD at no delays.
Thanks.
