For those who are curious about the fine print and details:

Pricing
# of miles cost
1,000-5,000 $50.00
5,001-10,000 $100.00
10,001-15,000 $150.00
15,001-20,000 $200.00
20,001-25,000 $250.00
Prices listed above are in U.S. dollars and do not include $30 per transaction processing fee.

Timing

Please allow 3 business days for the shared miles to post to the recipient's account. Bonus miles will be awarded to the transferring member's account 6-8 weeks after the end of the promotion.

Nitpicking, but note that a 6,000 mile minimum transfer is required to qualify for the bonus.

I was wondering after reading the rules if the bonus only applies to each batch of 6000 miles. that is, you get the same bonus for transferring 18K miles as 20K although it costs the same to transfer 18K as 20K.

No. The bonus is 25% of the miles actually transferred.

Yes. If donor gives 25000 miles to recipient, recipient gets 25,000 miles, all of which count toward lifetime status. Donor gets 6,250 miles, all of which count toward lifetime status. Total cost, $280.

so if we are working two people towards lifetime status, then that would mean a total lifetime edge benefit of 31250 miles at $280. So that's .89 cpm towards lifetime status.

can this be done bidirectionally? or does the 25k apply to giving and receiving?

If figuring CPM toward lifetime status, I think you have to assign some value to the new miles created. For example, if you value new miles (any new miles) at $0.02/mile (including the effect on lifetime status), then 6,250 new miles would be worth $130. The 25,000 miles upward boost in lifetime status miles would then cost .60 cpm.

This can be done bidirectionally.

Not that I am advocating that. Seems expensive to me. I would just let lifetime status come when it comes.
