open jaw is this one world or partners award
I would appreciate the imput of some of you world travelers.
I am looking to do a business class milage award
jfk nrt bej (no stop overs) All JAL or subsidiary.
return
bkk hong kong nrt jfk (no stopvers)
bkk to hk on cathay pacific
hk to nrt on JAL
nrt to jfk on AA
The AA reservation agent indicated that I could not do an AA partner award
(110,000 miles) but must use a One World award (135,000) miles.
Is the RA correct that I cannot use an AA all partner award?
Your knowledge would be gratly appreciated. I would also be grateful if
anyone could direct me to where I could find the infromation re stopover on the AA web site.. I was able to find that info re the One World.

Yes, according to current rules and interpretation, you won't be able to open jaw between regions Asia 1 and Asia 2 (which is what you want to do). Right now you're at about 15,200 miles calculating JFK-PEK/BKK-JFK.
I'd say to maximize your award (travel up to 20K miles between stopover cities), you should consider adding PEK-BKK leg, or some other stop over points.
OR, if you fly SFO-PEK/BKK-SFO instead, you'd be under 14K miles, which would drop you down a level. I'd do this option and save the miles and buy a ticket JFK-SFO r/t.

Would your advise change if I elimiated the HK Bkk segment?
