Today is my first day as a 2MM PLT, Yah! Made it by the mythical Oct 01, 2010 program change deadline! Now the wait is on for the EVIPs and the recognition email, giving me written confirmation that I am now LT PLT.

Just crossed 1MM mark after 7 years of flying, making (not easily) PLT every year 2003 - 2010. Couldn't have done it without FT.

No, it is not. You must have gotten one of the new, post program change, packets. After Oct 1st only MILLON miles count. You must have passed a million PTD miles and were grandfathered in. Your Million miles were converted to Millon miles.

I got the "congratulations on your achievement" email, but haven't gotten the package in the mail yet. Have been a member since 1988 but really didn't use AA a whole lot until about 2000. Took me from 1988-2006 to make 1MM, though really I went from about 100,000 lifetime miles to 1MM in 2000-2006.
The 2nd MM was way easier.

I'm finding the reverse to be true, at least initially.
All of the good one-time promos are gone for me. I can churn some, but not Fidelity or Ameritrade or Citibank (for me). I was hoping #2 would be easier, but so far, I seem to be stuck in idle.

I am theoretically over 2MM but in reality stuck at 1.936,000.
I have 50,000 SPG miles and 16,000 purchase bonus miles pending - all done before the anticipated "doomsday" of Oct 1st.
Now I just have to wait for them to post and hope that nothing changes before they do.
Then I will celebrate for real.

How'd you do the second million in less than 20 months? (IE: how much flying vs. CC. vs. hotel transfer, etc.)
