This year has started pretty busy for me. I just booked flights that will get me re-qualified for exp (eqp) on march 17th (LAX-HKG). I know some of you guys (and girls on this board fly even a lot more so just out of curiosity what is the fastest anybody has re-qualified ever?

I think I will finally change my plans this year and actually join Asia miles after getting to 125k (should be done in April). Hopefully I'll get to enjoy their F more (only been there twice, seems to be almost impossible to get op-ups from J to F on CX).

Some people make it very quickly. Others-- it takes longer.

This year I expect to requalify in late July or early August, which is fast for me. At the other end of the spectrum I qualified for 2006 at about 10 pm on Dec. 31, 2005, with exactly 100,030 miles. Has anyone else cut it closer in both respects, not counting leeway? (I didn't qualify for 2007 at all, more's the pity. Once I realized I wasn't going to make it, I burned miles on award tickets and didn't even reach 50K - no point in "earning" PLT if one has it anyhow, both from lifetime miles and EXP soft landing.)

Better to manage your multi program strategy more holistically than just quickly requalifying for EXP and then turning to other programs. Each has nuances around fare classes and how much each flight segment is worth towards requalification (ie tier points vs Q miles/points.) For instance, a domestic transcon in 2 class YUP is worth more on some other airlines than AA- so if you have any of those earlier in the year perhaps they would be better used in the other airlines program. Conversely, I find my leisure travel (cheaper coach fares on AA metal so upgradable) is usually best posted to AA- but this travel is typically weighted to the latter half of the year. Of course YMMV but that is what I have found.

If you check the MR forum you'll find out that a fellow FT'er planned MRs so to be EXP by the 1st week of feb or the last of january.

Look at recent MR by wannaflyforless for an early requal. I think someone claimed to have done it in the first two weeks of Jan going back a few years, but that person may or may not have been telling the truth, from what I recall.

I earned over 100k EQMs thus qualifying M&M SEN (equivalent to AA EXP) mid January a few years ago.

With my current schedule due to qualify for EXP on April 5th... would have been earlier but have had 2 trips cancelled due to weather problems in January...

Pay $20000 to AA and you can qualify very quickly.

Was it more than 100,000 actual flown miles? SEN is/was VERY easy to do in a few days if one fly a lot of F-class with 325(375% earning) - AA EP would at least require 66,667 flown miles, compared to 30,770 if only flying LH.

No it wasn't but was over 50,000 flown miles.

I will requalify on 4/3, with the reservation I have purchased. In fact, I will requalify twice by November (200,000), if things go as planned. Perhaps sooner.

Requalifying is nice, but the price is sometimes much more than worth it (in time away from family, etc.), IMHO. I guess it's something at least to help ease the burden and take you mind off the things you're missing at home.

So you admit that you are guilty of false advertising in your profile?

No, he is entitled to his EXP status (as I am to my PM status on DL) until March 1 rolls around.
