Back in the early/mid 1970s, there was an Air Force 1st Lt Marvel who got promoted to Captain!

People in his office made him a Captain Marvel uniform for him, and a picture appeared in the Air Force Times!

Yes, I've also flown to MIA with Capt Don Johnson. I was laughing and mentioned it to the FA and he said the only way to keep a secret from a FA was to announce it over the speaker.

For many years AA had an SFO based captain named Hazard (nickname was Hap).

On May 25, 1979, Captain Lux was in command of AA flight 191 that crashed during takeoff at Ord. I believe that the term "Luxury Jet" was used to refer to their jet aircraft at the time.
