Upgrade on economy award tickets from any elite level during merger
How many of you knew about upgrading economy award tickets for free if you were elite during merger? You can not do it any more but I am curious how may flyer-talk people held back information because of the Blogs.
I only found one post and someone responding incorrectly saying it was an OPUP which was not the case.

I'm not sure what your point is, but nobody here has been withholding anything.

That LUS benefit went away when they merged the FF programs. And it was only applicable if you had 85K BIS miles on your way to CP.

I am the OP. It was not a published benefit. Again this was on award tickets. You did not need any BIS miles and you could be elite at any level and would be upgraded if any seats up front were open. It no longer happens after the drain down. Again I am curious how many flyertalk people knew about it.

I have no idea what you had meant by that.
In any case, you can not upgrade award tickets now, so I don't see the point.

(slightly different - but related - topic) Post-10/17, any idea if it's still possible to do a paid upgrade on award tickets at check-in? (this was always previously possible on US segments)

I am curious how much info is withheld because of blogs today. I want to know if people new about this quirk and did not post it on flyertalk

What does it matter if people knew of it or not, or if it was withheld because of the blogs (I don't recollect the US Airways | Dividend Miles forum being like that)? AA doesn't do that, US is not an airline anyone can fly since 17 October.

I have news for the OP. If either pre integration AA or US had an unpublished benefit that enabled elites, even just EXPs, to upgrade award tixs there would have been a thread on FT running page after page. OP don't believe me. PMAA used to have a free snack and drink to EXPs in Y as an unpublished benefit-before it became a published benefit. The thread went on for pages upon pages and year after year. The whole idea of a blog is to talk about what you know that others might not. And FT is by no means an exception.
