I have seen things on-board that were additional to the online menu and once, the food loaded bore no similarity to the either the online or the printed on-board menu.

TK has better..
and inbound in Economy. Both ways got a Menu card, Good Choices and excellent quality food. (including warm rolls). There were mid-flight
snacks for Economy as well. (Sandwiches) The service was amazingly
prompt and courteous...
I am not sure if U.S. carriers should even be in the service business if you
can not offer good service !

Oh, and this was on Cathay Pacific.
I guess even the "best" carriers can have their off days.

Economics of service..
The sad part is that "good service" does not cost more money. I can live
with crappy food if it served with good attitude, attentiveness, friendly
conversation...You can provide Cathay service at AA ticket prices !!
Unfortunately the service attitude and hospitality IQ is low in many of
the US carriers. Could it be training ? It is definitely not the money...
